CHAPTER 9: AMELIA’S RETURN AND THE ENEMY WITHIN

CHAPTER 9: AMELIA’S RETURN AND THE ENEMY WITHIN
The entire Hale Mansion stood frozen.
Nobody expected the impossible moment happening in front of them.
After seven years of believing Amelia Hale was gone forever, she was standing at the entrance.
Alive.

Breathing.
Looking at the family she had secretly protected from the shadows.
Victor could not move.
His mind was fighting between what his heart wanted to believe and what his instincts were warning him about.
Too many secrets had been revealed in one night.
Too many people had lied to him.
But there was one thing he could not deny.
The woman standing in front of him looked exactly like the woman he loved.
Amelia slowly stepped inside.
The rainwater from her coat fell onto the marble floor.
Her eyes never left Victor.
“I know you have questions.”
Victor finally found his voice.
His voice was quiet.
Almost broken.
“How?”
Amelia looked down.
“I wish I had a simple answer.”
Victor stared at her.
“You let me bury you.”
Pain crossed Amelia’s face.
“I know.”
“You let Ethan grow up without his mother.”
A tear appeared in her eyes.
“I know.”
Victor’s anger began to rise.
“Do you know what that did to me?”
“I spent seven years blaming myself.”
“I thought I failed you.”
“I thought I failed our son.”
Amelia closed her eyes.
“I know.”
Victor looked away.
Because hearing her admit it hurt more than anything.
Then Ethan spoke.
“Mommy?”
The entire room went silent.
Amelia looked toward him.
For seven years, she had imagined this moment.
But nothing prepared her for seeing her child standing in front of her.
The little boy she remembered was gone.
He had grown.
He had changed.
But he still had the same eyes.
The same smile.
The same gentle heart.
Amelia covered her mouth.
“Ethan…”
The boy slowly walked toward her.
“Is it really you?”
Amelia dropped to her knees.
“Yes.”
Her voice broke.
“It’s me.”
Ethan stared at her.
Then he ran into her arms.
Amelia held him tightly.
She cried into his hair.
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m so sorry.”
Ethan hugged her.
“I missed you.”
Those three words destroyed every wall Amelia had built around herself.
Victor watched silently.
For the first time that night, he saw something real.
Not manipulation.
Not strategy.
Not betrayal.
Just a mother and son who had lost seven years together.
But Adrian was still watching carefully.
He stepped closer.
“Amelia.”
She looked up.
Her expression changed.
“Adrian.”
The two stared at each other.
There was history between them.
Pain.
Secrets.
Unspoken memories.
Victor noticed.
“You knew he was alive.”
Amelia looked at him.
“Yes.”
“And you knew about everything happening in this family.”
She hesitated.
“Yes.”
Victor felt the betrayal returning.
“How many people knew the truth except me?”
Amelia looked down.
“Not enough.”
The answer surprised him.
“What does that mean?”
Amelia stood slowly.
“It means the person behind this is still free.”
Everyone became serious.
Marcus locked the doors.
Nobody was leaving.
Victor looked at Amelia.
“Tell me everything.”
Amelia took a deep breath.
“The night of the accident, I discovered Serena and Daniel were working together.”
Daniel immediately stepped forward.
“Amelia, I—”
She raised her hand.
“Don’t.”
Daniel stopped.
Amelia continued.
“They were not trying to steal the inheritance.”
Victor frowned.
“But the documents.”
“Those were only a distraction.”
Amelia looked around the room.
“They wanted something much bigger.”
Adrian spoke.
“The company.”
Amelia nodded.
“Yes.”
Victor looked confused.
“Why?”
Amelia walked toward the table.
She placed an old file on it.
“Because Hale Industries was never built only on money.”
She opened the folder.
Inside were original company documents.
“The person who controls the original shares controls everything.”
Victor looked at the papers.
Then froze.
Because one signature was missing.
His father’s.
And another name was written beside it.
Evelyn Hale.
Victor looked at Adrian.
“Your mother.”
Adrian nodded.
Amelia continued.
“Evelyn discovered the truth years ago.”
“She discovered that someone had changed the family records.”
“Someone removed Adrian’s existence.”
“Someone erased the rightful heir.”
Lily looked shocked.
“Who could do that?”
Amelia became silent.
That silence scared everyone.
Victor stepped closer.
“Amelia.”
“Who?”
She looked at him.
“The person who had access to everything.”
Victor felt a chill.
“The family attorney?”
“No.”
“The security team?”
“No.”
“Then who?”
Amelia looked toward the upper floor.
Everyone followed her eyes.
The answer seemed impossible.
Because the person she was looking at was not inside the room.
It was a photograph hanging on the wall.
A photograph of the Hale family from twenty years ago.
Amelia pointed at one person.
Victor’s father.
“He was involved.”
The room became silent.
Victor stared.
“My father?”
Amelia nodded.
“He created the first secret.”
Victor stepped back.
“That’s impossible.”
“I knew your father.”
“You respected him.”
Amelia looked at him sadly.
“You knew the man he wanted you to know.”
Victor looked at the photograph.
“What did he hide?”
Amelia opened another file.
Inside was a document dated thirty years earlier.
A birth record.
Victor read the name.
His face changed.
Because it was not Adrian’s record.
It was another one.
Another child.
Another secret.
Amelia whispered:
“Your father had another heir.”
Victor looked at her.
“How many?”
Amelia’s voice became quiet.
“Enough to destroy this family.”
Suddenly, the mansion lights went out again.
Everyone froze.
Not again.
The same darkness.
The same fear.
The same pattern.
Victor immediately grabbed Ethan.
“Stay with me.”
Emergency lights turned on.
But something was different this time.
A message appeared on the security screen.
Everyone looked.
Only four words were displayed.
YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT HER GONE.
Victor stared at the screen.
Then slowly looked around the room.
Someone had entered the mansion.
Someone had bypassed every security system.
Someone who knew every secret.
Amelia stepped closer to Victor.
Her face turned pale.
“Victor…”
He looked at her.
“What?”
She whispered:
“They know I’m back.”
A shadow moved outside the glass doors.
And a voice came through the speakers.
“Welcome home, Amelia.”
Everyone froze.
Because the voice belonged to someone they trusted.
May you like
Someone who had been helping them all along.
And someone who was now revealing their true identity.
