Chapter 16 — Operation: Remove Vivienne Whitmore

Chapter 16 — Operation: Remove Vivienne Whitmore

The title on the screen felt like a punch to the chest.

Operation: Remove Vivienne Whitmore.

For a moment, I couldn’t move.

I simply stared at those words.

Not because I was afraid.

Because I was trying to understand how people could spend so much time planning the destruction of another person’s life.

My life.

The ballroom remained silent.

Even Chloe had stopped pretending.

Even Eleanor had lost her confidence.

Because this was different.

The ring accusation.

The financial deception.

The lies.

Those were terrible.

But this document proved something much darker.

They had planned everything.

My father looked at the security officer.

“Open the file.”

The officer nodded.

The screen changed.

A detailed document appeared.

Dates.

Names.

Notes.

Every step carefully organized.

The first page contained a summary.

Objective: Separate Vivienne from family support, damage her reputation, and force voluntary withdrawal from marriage and inheritance discussions.

My hands became cold.

My father noticed.

He immediately reached for my hand.

“You don’t have to read this.”

I looked at him.

“Yes, I do.”

Because for years, I had wondered.

Was I too sensitive?

Was I imagining their cruelty?

Was I overreacting?

Now I had the answer.

I wasn’t imagining anything.

The document continued.

Phase One: Create emotional isolation.

The guests read silently.

Then the notes appeared.

“Encourage Dominic to avoid confrontation.”

“Allow family conflicts to continue without resolution.”

“Make Vivienne feel unsupported.”

My eyes moved toward Dominic.

He looked away.

Because he knew.

Those words described exactly what happened.

Not because he followed every instruction.

But because he allowed it.

The next section appeared.

Phase Two: Question Vivienne’s character.

The notes continued.

“Emphasize differences in social background.”

“Suggest she does not belong.”

“Create the impression that she is difficult and controlling.”

A painful laugh escaped from me.

All those years.

All those comments.

All those moments when I questioned myself.

They weren’t accidents.

They were strategies.

Chloe suddenly spoke.

“Mom…”

Her voice was quiet.

“You really wrote this?”

Eleanor looked at her daughter.

“I did what was necessary.”

Chloe stared at her.

“You said this was about protecting the family.”

“It was.”

“No.”

Chloe shook her head.

“This was about controlling everyone.”

Eleanor’s expression hardened.

“You’re only saying that because you failed.”

The words shocked everyone.

Including Chloe.

For years, Chloe and Eleanor had acted like a team.

But now the truth was breaking them apart.

My father continued reading.

“There is another section.”

Everyone looked back at the screen.

He scrolled down.

Phase Three: Financial pressure.

The room became tense.

The notes explained the plan.

If Dominic’s company struggled, he would become dependent on family support.

If the marriage became unstable, Dominic would feel forced to protect his family’s interests.

If Vivienne discovered the truth...

She would be painted as the reason for the conflict.

My stomach tightened.

They had not only planned to hurt me.

They had planned to make me look guilty for being hurt.

My father’s voice became colder.

“This is manipulation.”

Eleanor looked at him.

“No.”

She lifted her chin.

“This is survival.”

Nobody spoke.

She continued.

“You wealthy people don’t understand what it’s like to lose everything.”

My father stared at her.

“You chose cruelty because you were afraid.”

Her expression changed.

But she didn’t deny it.

Then the officer spoke again.

“There is one final section.”

My father looked at him.

“What section?”

The officer hesitated.

“The contingency plan.”

A strange feeling moved through me.

“What happens if the first plan fails?”

The officer looked at the screen.

Then answered:

“Escalation.”

The room went silent.

My father frowned.

“Read it.”

The officer opened the document.

The next page appeared.

If Vivienne refuses separation, increase pressure through public embarrassment and legal challenges.

A guest covered her mouth.

Another whispered:

“They were going to sue her?”

The officer continued.

“Additional notes mention damaging her reputation through accusations.”

My eyes moved toward Chloe.

The stolen ring.

The public humiliation.

The wedding scene.

It wasn’t an emotional outburst.

It wasn’t a misunderstanding.

It was part of the plan.

My father looked at Eleanor.

“You used your own son’s wedding as a trap.”

Eleanor remained silent.

Then suddenly...

Dominic stepped forward.

Everyone turned toward him.

For the first time all night, he wasn’t looking confused.

He wasn’t afraid.

He looked angry.

“Mom.”

Eleanor looked at him.

“What?”

His voice shook.

“Did you ever actually care about me?”

The question seemed to surprise her.

“Of course I did.”

“No.”

He shook his head.

“You cared about controlling my life.”

Silence.

“You cared about protecting your image.”

His eyes filled with tears.

“But you never cared about what I wanted.”

Eleanor looked hurt.

“You’re choosing her over your family?”

Dominic looked at me.

Then back at his mother.

“I’m choosing the truth.”

The words were simple.

But powerful.

Because they were the first honest words he had spoken all night.

Then the security officer received another message.

He looked at my father.

“Mr. Whitmore.”

“What now?”

The officer’s expression became serious.

“We found the person who created the first version of this plan.”

My father frowned.

“Eleanor?”

The officer shook his head.

“No.”

Everyone froze.

“Then who?”

The officer looked directly at Dominic.

“The document was created using Dominic’s personal account.”

The ballroom went completely silent.

My heart stopped.

Because the one question I had been trying to avoid...

Was finally standing in front of me.

Had Dominic been manipulated by his family?

May you like

Or had he been part of the plan from the very beginning?

To be continued...
