Chapter 15 — Charles Harrison’s Final Move

Chapter 15 — Charles Harrison’s Final Move

The factory doors slammed open.

The sound echoed through the abandoned building like a warning.

Everyone turned.

Standing in the entrance was Charles Harrison.

Calm.

Confident.

Untouched.

The same man who had spent the entire night pretending to be a helpless victim.

The same man who had acted like he was searching for answers.

But now…

He looked like someone who had already won.

Behind him stood several security officers.

Emily immediately stepped in front of Claire.

Her father moved beside her.

For the first time in her life, Emily felt something she had never experienced before.

She wasn’t alone.

“Charles.”

Daniel’s voice was cold.

“You should have stayed hidden.”

Charles smiled.

“And you should have stayed gone.”

The tension between the two brothers filled the room.

Emily looked between them.

Twenty-four years of secrets.

Twenty-four years of lies.

All standing in front of her.

“You knew we would find this place,” Daniel said.

Charles laughed softly.

“Of course.”

He looked around the factory.

“This place was always Daniel’s favorite.”

His eyes moved toward Emily.

“I knew eventually his daughter would come looking for answers.”

Emily stared at him.

“You knew who I was.”

Charles nodded.

“Yes.”

The answer was painful.

“How long?”

Charles didn’t hesitate.

“Since the day you were born.”

Emily felt anger rising.

“You watched me?”

Charles walked slowly into the factory.

“I protected the Harrison legacy.”

“No.”

Emily’s voice was sharp.

“You protected your power.”

Charles smiled.

“You’re more like Daniel than I expected.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“Leave her out of this.”

Charles looked at him.

“You always were weak when it came to family.”

Emily noticed something.

Charles wasn’t angry.

He was almost disappointed.

Like he believed everything he did was justified.

“You destroyed our lives,” Vanessa said.

Charles looked at her.

“No.”

He smiled.

“You destroyed your own lives by believing emotions mattered more than power.”

Vanessa’s expression changed.

Emily looked at Charles.

“You framed me because you were afraid.”

Charles turned toward her.

“Afraid?”

He laughed.

“Emily, you have no idea how dangerous you are.”

She frowned.

“I’m just someone who wanted the truth.”

“Exactly.”

Charles stepped closer.

“The truth is dangerous.”

He pointed toward the documents on the table.

“You think people want honesty?”

He shook his head.

“They want comfort. They want the stories they already believe.”

Daniel looked disgusted.

“You’re still trying to justify what you did.”

Charles ignored him.

“You were supposed to disappear, Emily.”

The words sent a chill through the room.

“You were supposed to live a normal life.”

Emily stared.

“You planned that?”

Charles nodded.

“Yes.”

The confidence in his answer was terrifying.

“I made sure no one would know you existed.”

Claire stepped forward.

“You tried to erase a child.”

Charles looked at her.

“I tried to protect the company.”

Claire’s expression hardened.

“No.”

She shook her head.

“You tried to own it.”

Charles smiled slightly.

“Perhaps.”

Emily looked at the security officers.

“Are they working for you?”

Charles nodded.

“They work for Harrison Enterprises.”

“They work for you.”

A pause.

“For now.”

Emily noticed something.

The officers didn’t look comfortable.

They weren’t acting like loyal soldiers.

They looked uncertain.

Afraid.

Charles noticed Emily watching them.

“You’re trying to find weaknesses.”

Emily looked at him.

“Yes.”

Charles smiled.

“Another trait from Daniel.”

He walked toward the table.

“Do you want to know why your father failed?”

Daniel’s expression changed.

“Charles.”

But Charles continued.

“Because Daniel believed being right was enough.”

He picked up the documents.

“He thought evidence would save him.”

He looked at Emily.

“But power always wins.”

Emily stepped closer.

“No.”

Charles looked amused.

“No?”

She shook her head.

“My father was right.”

Charles smiled.

“And where did that get him?”

Emily looked at Daniel.

Then Claire.

Then Vanessa.

Finally, she looked back at Charles.

“It brought him back to me.”

For the first time, Charles’s smile disappeared.

Only for a second.

But Emily saw it.

She had found the one thing he feared.

Not the company.

Not the documents.

Not the money.

The truth.

Charles turned toward the officers.

“Take the documents.”

Nobody moved.

Charles frowned.

“I said take them.”

Still nothing.

One officer finally spoke.

“Mr. Harrison…”

Charles stared.

“What?”

The officer swallowed.

“We received another order.”

Charles’s expression changed.

“From who?”

The officer looked at Emily.

“From the Harrison board.”

Everyone froze.

Charles stepped back.

“That’s impossible.”

The officer handed Emily a tablet.

A live video call appeared.

The faces of several Harrison board members filled the screen.

One of them spoke.

“Emily Carter.”

She looked surprised.

“Yes?”

The man continued.

“We have reviewed the evidence.”

A pause.

“And we have confirmed your identity.”

Charles’s face became pale.

The board member continued:

“By your grandfather’s legal documents, you are the majority shareholder of Harrison Enterprises.”

Silence.

Emily stared.

Charles whispered:

“No.”

The board member looked directly at him.

“Charles Harrison, you are removed from all company authority effective immediately.”

The factory became completely silent.

For the first time that night…

Charles Harrison looked afraid.

But then he smiled.

A small, cold smile.

Emily noticed.

“You’re not surprised.”

Charles looked at her.

“No.”

He slowly stepped backward.

“Because you still don’t know the biggest secret.”

Daniel’s expression changed.

“What are you talking about?”

Charles looked at Emily.

“The inheritance.”

He smiled.

“It was never the company.”

Emily frowned.

“Then what was it?”

Charles looked toward Daniel.

“Ask your father what he really found twenty-four years ago.”

Daniel became silent.

Emily turned to him.

“Dad?”

Daniel looked away.

And that scared her.

Because for the first time…

Daniel looked afraid.

Charles smiled.

“Your father didn’t disappear to protect the company.”

A pause.

“He disappeared because he discovered something about the Harrison family that could destroy all of us.”

The factory lights flickered.

Charles walked toward the exit.

Before leaving, he looked back at Emily.

“Congratulations, Emily.”

“You got your inheritance.”

His smile returned.

“But now…”

“You have inherited the curse.”

The doors closed behind him.

Everyone remained silent.

Emily turned slowly toward Daniel.

“What did you find?”

Daniel looked at his daughter.

And after twenty-four years of hiding…

He finally answered.

May you like

“The truth about who the Harrisons really are.”

To be continued…
