Chapter 12: The Collapse of the Inner Circle

The arrest of Doña Rebeca Alcázar sent a shockwave through the financial heart of Monterrey before the sun even rose. By 7:00 AM, financial news networks across Mexico were broadcasting breaking reports of the federal raid on the Alcázar estate, and the stock of Alcázar Industries plummeted thirty-four percent within minutes of the market opening.

Inside the executive boardroom on the top floor of the Alcázar Tower, the atmosphere was suffocating.

The remaining board members—men who had nodded obediently at Rebeca’s commands for over a decade—sat in terrified silence around the polished mahogany table. At the head of the table sat Sebastián, his sleeves rolled up, his laptop open to the forensic audit reports that had just been pulled from Octavio’s seized hard drives.

The heavy glass doors pushed open, and Elena, the senior live-in housekeeper, walked in. Her gray uniform looked rumpled, her face hollowed out by fear. Two federal agents escorted her, her hands cuffed loosely in front of her.

“Mr. Sebastián,” Elena whispered, her voice cracking as she stopped at the foot of the table. “I... I was just following orders. Mrs. Rebeca... she said if I didn't help log false reports about Mrs. Valeria, my family’s medical debts in Guadalajara would never be paid off.”

Sebastián didn't look up from his screen. He scrolled through a digital ledger of offshore wire transfers, his face completely devoid of emotion.

“You helped terrorize my wife, Elena,” Sebastián said quietly, the stillness in his voice far more terrifying than a shout. “You watched them lock her in her suite, you falsified medical logs, and you helped orchestrate the separation of a mother from her newborn child. The debts in Guadalajara won't matter, because you’ll be spending the next ten years in a federal penitentiary reflecting on household loyalty.”

Elena burst into tears, collapsing into a chair as the agents hauled her away toward the elevators.

The corporate counsel, a senior partner named Morales who had drafted half of Rebeca’s illegal proxy agreements, nervously cleared his throat. “Mr. Alcázar... surely we can restructure the governance without dragging the firm’s reputation through a public trial. The board is prepared to officially ratify you as sole Chairman and CEO, effective immediately.”

Sebastián slowly closed his laptop. He looked around the table, meeting the terrified gaze of every single executive who had turned a blind eye to his family’s nightmare.

“You’re all fired,” Sebastián said calmly.

The boardroom erupted into panicked protests. “Fired? Sebastián, you can’t just dissolve the executive committee! The company requires—‘

“The company requires a complete cleansing,” Sebastián interrupted, standing up so abruptly his heavy oak chair slammed back against the wall. “By noon today, every single person who signed off on my mother’s fraudulent resolutions will receive a termination notice and a subpoena from the attorney general’s office. Clear your desks.”
