Chapter 11: The Breach of the Gates

The heavy iron gates of the Alcázar estate groaned under the weight of the federal battering ram, the sound echoing through the manicured gardens like thunder. Inside the compound, the high-end security lighting flickered and died as Commander Garza’s tactical unit remotely severed the estate’s primary power grid.
Sebastián walked through the broken gates flanked by two federal agents, his stride steady and unrelenting. The sprawling Mediterranean-style mansion looked ghostly in the emergency strobe lights, its towering white pillars casting long, twisted shadows across the gravel driveway.
The massive oak front door swung open before the federal agents could raise their breaching tools.
There stood Doña Rebeca Alcázar.
She wasn't cowering. She wasn't begging. She wore an immaculate midnight-blue velvet gown, her hair swept up in a flawless chignon, her pearl earrings catching the harsh blue and red flashes of the police cruisers outside. A serene, chilling smile rested on her lips, as if she were greeting late-arriving guests at a charity gala.
“Sebastián,” Rebeca said, her voice smooth and dripping with aristocratic condescension as she stepped gracefully onto the porch. “Have you completely lost your mind? Bringing armed thugs onto family property like a common criminal. Your father would be turning in his grave.”
Sebastián stopped ten feet away from her. The bitter cold in his chest burned hotter than any fire.
“My father isn't turning in his grave, Mother,” Sebastián said, his voice dropping into a register so cold it made the federal agents behind him tense up. “He’s finally going to get justice.”
He reached into his inner suit jacket, pulled out the black leather ledger from Banco Mercantil, and tossed it heavily onto the stone porch at her feet. It landed with a dull, heavy thud.
Rebeca’s gaze dropped to the book. For the first time since the ordeal began, the impenetrable mask cracked. A microscopic flicker of panic crossed her eyes before she instantly suppressed it.
“What is this theatrical nonsense?” she asked smoothly, not bothering to look down at the ledger.
“That is your signature on the toxicology report from Zurich,” Sebastián replied, stepping closer until he towered over her. “And that is my father’s true final testament, proving that your control over the estate, the corporate shares, and every asset we own is nothing more than a criminal usurpation built on forgery and murder.”

Commander Garza stepped forward, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his tactical belt.
“Doña Rebeca Alcázar,” Garza announced formally, his voice cutting through the night air. “You are under arrest for the premeditated murder of Eduardo Alcázar, corporate fraud, and conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”
