Chapter 10: The Siege of the Estate

The massive wrought-iron gates of the Alcázar estate in San Pedro loomed against the twilight sky like the bars of a medieval fortress. Usually, the gates stood open for limousines and high-profile guests, guarded only by a polite pair of private estate sentries.
Tonight, the gates were locked tight, flanked by four armed security vehicles with their high-beam headlights blazing blindingly against the dark road.
Sebastián’s black SUV rolled to a smooth stop directly in front of the iron barrier. He didn't wait for the driver. He pushed open his door and stepped out into the cool evening air, his suit jacket buttoned, his face carved from cold, unyielding stone.
Behind him, two unmarked federal vehicles pulled up silently, their blue and red emergency lights flashing silently against the stone walls of the estate. Six armed federal investigators stepped out, led by Commander Garza—a hardened anti-corruption officer known across Nuevo León for taking down the state’s most untouchable cartels.
“Mr. Alcázar,” Commander Garza said, walking up beside Sebastián and handing him a clipboard with a signed federal search and arrest warrant. “We have the judicial authorization. If Doña Rebeca refuses to open the gates, we breach.”
Sebastián looked up at the towering security cameras mounted on the stone pillars. He knew his mother was sitting behind her mahogany desk in the west wing right now, watching every monitor on the property, sipping her evening tea with absolute, unshakeable confidence.
She thought she was untouchable. She thought her money, her lawyers, and her bloodline made her a queen who could never be judged.

She was about to find out what happened when an empire finally collapsed under the weight of its own sins.
“Open the gates, Commander,” Sebastián said quietly. “And let’s go home.”
