Chapter 4 - The Room Nobody Entered

Chapter 4 - The Room Nobody Entered

The entire house felt different after Daniel pointed toward the upstairs hallway.
The luxurious mansion that once represented success now looked like a place filled with forgotten shadows.
The billionaire father slowly followed his son's gaze.
The hallway lights reflected against the polished marble floor.
Every painting on the wall suddenly felt like it was hiding something.
The girlfriend stood behind them.
Silent.
Watching.
Waiting.
The father noticed her expression.
She was not confused.
She was calculating.
That frightened him more than anything.
The contractor looked toward the staircase.
"Should we call the police?"
The father didn't answer immediately.
His eyes remained fixed on the woman who had lived beside him for years.
The woman who comforted him while he mourned.
The woman who held his hand at his son's memorial.
The woman who knew exactly how much pain he carried.
Finally, he spoke.
"Nobody leaves this house."
The girlfriend laughed nervously.
"You can't keep me here."
The father looked at her.
"I don't have to."
He lifted the camcorder.
"The truth is already here."
Her smile disappeared.
Daniel held onto his father's hand.
The father looked down at him.
For seven years, he imagined this moment.
Finding his son.
Holding him again.
But he never imagined finding him surrounded by lies.
They walked upstairs together.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Every step felt heavier.
Daniel stayed close to his father.
The boy kept looking behind them.
Like he expected someone to appear.
The father noticed.
"Are you afraid?"
Daniel nodded.
"She always told me someone would come back."
The father's expression hardened.
"Who?"
Daniel looked down.
"I don't know."
They reached the end of the hallway.
A large wooden door stood in front of them.
The paint was darker than the others.
Older.
The father remembered it.
Years ago, he asked about this room.
The girlfriend told him it was only storage.
She said nobody used it.
Daniel stared at the door.
"That's where they kept the things."
The father placed his hand on the handle.
"What things?"
The boy whispered.
"The things that proved I was alive."
The father opened the door.
A cold wave of air escaped.
Inside was a forgotten room covered in dust.
Old boxes filled every corner.
Furniture covered with white sheets.
A broken lamp sat near the window.
The contractor turned on his flashlight.
"This place hasn't been touched in years."
The father stepped inside.
Then he saw it.
A small wooden box on the floor.
Daniel immediately recognized it.
"That's mine."
The father picked it up.
The box was locked.
The girlfriend suddenly appeared at the doorway.
"Don't open that."
Everyone turned.
The father stared at her.
"Why?"
She didn't answer.
That was enough.
The father broke the lock.
Inside were drawings.
Old photographs.
Letters.
And a small black notebook.
Daniel became nervous.
"Don't read that."
The father looked at him.
"Why?"
The boy looked away.
"Because that's when everything started."
The father opened the notebook.
The first page contained a date.
The night Daniel disappeared.
The next page contained a list.
Names.
Times.
Payments.
The father's heart started racing.
"What is this?"
The contractor leaned closer.
"It looks like someone was planning something."
The father turned another page.
Then he stopped.
Because he saw his own name.
Next to it was a sentence.
"After the funeral, control everything."
The room became completely silent.
The father slowly looked toward the girlfriend.
She was standing in the doorway.
No tears.
No excuses.
Only fear.
The father closed the notebook.
"You knew."
She shook her head.
"No."
"You knew my son was alive."
"No."
"You knew he was inside this house."
Her silence became the answer.
Daniel moved closer to his father.
The father felt his anger rising.
But before he could speak, the lights suddenly turned off.
The room went completely dark.
A loud sound came from downstairs.
Something crashed.
Everyone froze.
The contractor grabbed his flashlight.
"Someone else is in the house."
The father immediately turned toward Daniel.
The boy was gone.
For one terrifying second, nobody breathed.
Then the father heard a faint sound.
A whisper from the hallway.
"Dad..."
He ran.
The girlfriend followed.
The contractor followed behind.
But when they reached the hallway, they saw something that made everyone stop.
The front door was open.
Cold air rushed inside.
And on the floor was Daniel's vintage camcorder.
The red recording light was still blinking.
The father picked it up.
The screen showed a new video.
A video recorded only seconds earlier.
He pressed play.
The image was shaky.
Dark.
A figure stood behind Daniel.
A man's voice whispered:
"You should have stayed hidden."
May you like
The father's blood ran cold.
Because he knew that voice too.
