Chapter 3 - The Hidden Recording

Chapter 3 - The Hidden Recording

The old camcorder screen flickered inside the silent kitchen.

Everyone watched the tiny image appearing through the cracked display.

The recording was dark.

The camera shook.

A child’s frightened breathing filled the room.

The billionaire father stood completely still.

He could barely process what he was seeing.

It was impossible.

It was a memory he was never supposed to witness.

A memory that someone had buried for seven years.

The contractor slowly stepped away from the broken wall.

He understood this was no longer a simple renovation.

This was something much darker.

The father stared at the screen.

A younger version of Daniel appeared in the recording.

The boy looked smaller.

Weak.

Terrified.

His hands were tied with a piece of cloth.

The father’s face changed instantly.

"No..."

His voice was barely audible.

Daniel looked down.

He had already seen this video many times.

He knew every second.

Every sound.

Every nightmare.

The recording continued.

A woman’s voice echoed from behind the camera.

"Stop crying."

The father froze.

Because he recognized that voice.

The girlfriend covered her mouth.

"No, that's not what it sounds like."

Nobody looked at her.

Nobody believed her.

The recording continued.

Young Daniel turned toward the camera.

His eyes were full of tears.

"Where is my dad?"

The woman answered.

"He doesn't want you anymore."

The father closed his eyes.

Pain crossed his face.

Because those words hurt more than any physical wound.

He had spent seven years blaming himself.

Believing he had failed his child.

Believing he should have protected him.

But now he realized someone had stolen those years from him.

Daniel touched his father's hand.

"I knew you didn't leave me."

The father looked down.

A tear fell onto the dusty floor.

"I searched for you."

The boy nodded.

"I know."

The father looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

Daniel looked at the camcorder.

"I heard them talking."

The room became silent.

"Who?"

The boy hesitated.

Then answered.

"Her."

The girlfriend stepped backward.

"You are lying."

Her voice sounded different now.

Not confident.

Not elegant.

Desperate.

Daniel shook his head.

"I remember everything."

The father looked at the woman.

"Everything about what?"

The girlfriend remained silent.

The father walked closer.

"Answer me."

She looked away.

That was when the contractor noticed something.

A small scar on the wall behind the destroyed section.

A hidden metal frame.

"This wall was not part of the original construction."

Everyone turned toward him.

The contractor ran his hand along the exposed structure.

"Someone built this space intentionally."

The father looked back at the hidden room.

A wave of anger passed through him.

Someone had designed a place to disappear his son.

Not an accident.

Not a mistake.

A plan.

Daniel slowly walked toward the opening.

The father immediately stopped him.

"No."

The boy looked up.

"I need to show you something."

The father hesitated.

Then followed.

Inside the narrow space were old blankets.

Empty water bottles.

A small flashlight.

And dozens of drawings taped against the wall.

The father picked one up.

His hands started shaking.

It was a picture of their family.

A picture Daniel had drawn before he disappeared.

But something was written on the back.

Seven words.

The father read them quietly.

"Mommy said daddy would never find me."

The kitchen went silent again.

The girlfriend suddenly turned toward the exit.

The contractor blocked her path.

"Where are you going?"

She forced a smile.

"I need to call my lawyer."

The father looked at her.

"No."

His voice was calm.

Almost frightening.

"You need to explain."

She stared at him.

The man she thought she controlled.

The man she thought would always believe her.

Was gone.

The father held up the camcorder.

"Who helped you?"

The woman's expression changed.

For one second.

Only one second.

But everyone saw it.

Fear.

Real fear.

Because she wasn't afraid of being exposed.

She was afraid of someone else finding out she had been caught.

The father noticed.

"You're not the only person involved."

The girlfriend said nothing.

And that silence answered the question.

Daniel looked at the old recording again.

Then whispered:

"There's another video."

The father turned.

"Another one?"

Daniel nodded.

"I hid it somewhere else."

The girlfriend's face became completely white.

"Where?"

The boy looked directly at her.

"In the room where you thought nobody would ever look."

The father stared at his son.

"What room?"

Daniel slowly pointed toward the upstairs hallway.

"The room you locked after they took me."

Nobody spoke.

Because everyone in the kitchen understood one terrifying truth.

The wall was only the beginning.

May you like

The real secret was still hidden somewhere inside the house.

And someone was still trying to protect it.
