Chapter 14 - The Final Enemy

Chapter 14 - The Final Enemy

The shadow at the end of the hallway slowly stepped forward.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody moved.
The billionaire father stared into the darkness.
His mind refused to accept what his eyes were seeing.
Another impossible return.
Another person who was supposed to be gone.
The stranger walked into the light.
And the entire room changed.
Daniel immediately moved closer to his father.
Claire's face turned pale.
Michael looked down.
Because he knew.
The father whispered the name.
"Richard."
The man smiled.
"Hello, brother."
The father felt the world collapse again.
Richard.
His older brother.
The person everyone believed disappeared years ago.
The person who was never mentioned.
The person whose name had been removed from every family record.
The father looked at Michael.
"You both were alive."
Michael said nothing.
Richard smiled.
"Michael was always the emotional one."
The father stared.
"You planned this."
Richard walked into the room.
"I planned everything."
The words were calm.
Almost casual.
The father felt anger rising.
"Why?"
Richard looked around the mansion.
"Because everything you had should have been mine."
The contractor shook his head.
"All of this..."
Richard looked at him.
"Was business."
The father laughed.
A painful laugh.
"You destroyed my family for money."
Richard corrected him.
"No."
"I destroyed your family because you were never supposed to own what belonged to us."
The father stepped forward.
"You mean my company."
Richard smiled.
"Your company."
"Your inheritance."
"Your reputation."
"Your perfect life."
The father clenched his fists.
"You were jealous."
Richard's expression changed slightly.
"Jealous?"
He laughed.
"No."
"I was patient."
The room became silent.
Richard continued.
"I waited."
"I watched."
"I learned every weakness you had."
"And then I found the one thing you could never sacrifice."
He looked at Daniel.
The father immediately stepped between them.
"You will never touch him."
Richard smiled.
"That is exactly why he was useful."
The father's anger exploded.
"You used my son."
Richard nodded.
"Yes."
"And he survived."
Daniel looked at him with fear.
Richard continued.
"Because Claire was stronger than I expected."
Claire stared at him.
"You threatened my child."
Richard smiled.
"And you still protected him."
The father looked at Claire.
The truth finally became clear.
She was not part of the betrayal.
She was fighting against it.
Richard walked toward the table.
He placed a small envelope down.
"Do you know what the funniest part is?"
Nobody answered.
Richard opened the envelope.
"Your son was never the biggest threat."
The father frowned.
"Then what was?"
Richard looked at him.
"You."
The room became silent.
Richard continued.
"You were always smarter than everyone."
"You noticed the missing money."
"You noticed the fake records."
"You noticed people around you changing."
The father stared.
"So you erased my memories."
Richard nodded.
"We needed time."
The father looked at the stranger.
"And he was created because my mind fought back."
Richard smiled.
"Exactly."
The stranger stepped forward.
"You underestimated him."
Richard looked annoyed.
"You were never supposed to return."
The stranger answered:
"But I did."
For the first time, Richard looked afraid.
The father noticed.
He understood.
The memories.
The hidden rooms.
The recordings.
Everything led to this moment.
Richard had spent seven years trying to bury the truth.
But he failed.
Because the truth had survived in Daniel.
The father looked at his son.
Daniel held up the vintage camcorder.
"There is one more video."
Everyone turned.
Richard's expression changed.
"No."
Daniel pressed a button.
The final recording appeared.
The image showed Richard seven years earlier.
Standing in the mansion.
Talking to Michael.
Talking to the girlfriend.
Giving orders.
But then another person entered the room.
Someone nobody expected.
Richard's face changed.
Because the recording showed the moment he lost control.
The moment someone betrayed him.
A voice from the video said:
"You don't own this family."
Richard stepped closer to the screen.
"No..."
The father looked confused.
"Who said that?"
The recording turned.
The camera revealed a person standing behind Richard.
A person who had been secretly protecting Daniel all these years.
A person everyone ignored.
The father stared.
Because the final piece of the puzzle was not a billionaire.
Not a family member.
Not an enemy.
It was the person who broke the wall.
The contractor.
Everyone looked at him.
The contractor slowly lowered his eyes.
The father whispered:
"You knew."
The contractor remained silent.
Then he finally answered.
"Yes."
The room went still.
The father looked shocked.
"Why?"
The contractor looked at Daniel.
"Because I was there the night they took him."
A pause.
"And I was the one who promised him..."
May you like
He looked back at the broken wall.
"...that someday his father would find him."
