Chapter 5: The Boardroom Execution

The Thorne Industries quarterly board meeting was a heavily guarded affair. Twelve of the most powerful executives in the country sat around a massive mahogany table on the 80th floor of the Thorne Tower.
Marcus stood at the head of the table, projecting a holographic chart of projected profits. He looked arrogant, untouchable, and completely in control.
"As you can see, gentlemen," Marcus boasted, pacing confidently, "our European expansion is set to yield a 40% increase in profit margins by Q3. The company has never been stronger."
"That's a fascinating projection, Marcus."
The heavy oak double doors of the boardroom swung open.
Every head in the room turned. Marcus’s confident smile instantly evaporated.
Khloe stood in the doorway. She wasn't wearing her usual soft, maternal pastels. Today, she wore a sharp, blood-red power suit—the exact color Isabella had worn on the night of the attack. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek, severe style, and she carried a thick leather briefcase. Flanking her on either side were two men in dark suits: Uncle Richard, and Elias Vance, the apex predator of corporate law.
"Khloe?" Marcus demanded, his face flushing with immediate rage. "What the hell are you doing here? Security! Get them out!"
Two security guards stepped forward, but Elias Vance raised a hand, flashing a piece of paper with a judge's signature.
"I wouldn't do that, gentlemen," Elias said smoothly. "Mrs. Thorne is a legally recognized proxy shareholder. She has every right to be here."
Khloe walked slowly toward the table, her heels clicking rhythmically against the hardwood floor. It sounded like a countdown.
"Khloe, have you lost your mind?" Marcus hissed, stepping toward her. "Go home. Now."
"I am home, Marcus," Khloe said, her voice echoing clearly across the silent boardroom. She slammed her briefcase onto the table. "Gentlemen of the board. My husband just told you that the company is stronger than ever. What he failed to mention is that he has been quietly embezzling forty-five million dollars from the pension fund into offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands under his mistress's name."
The boardroom erupted into chaos. Men shouted, standing up from their chairs.
"That's a lie!" Marcus roared, his face purple. "She's hysterical! It's the pregnancy hormones!"
Khloe unlatched the briefcase and pulled out twelve thick manila envelopes, sliding one down the table to each board member.
"Inside these envelopes, you will find the wire transfer receipts, the IP addresses tracking the transfers to Marcus’s private study, and the shell company registrations signed by Isabella Rossi," Khloe said, her voice slicing through the noise like a blade. "But that's not all."
Khloe pulled a tablet from her bag and synced it to the room's holographic projector. The profit charts vanished.
In their place, high-definition security footage filled the room.
The board members gasped in horror as they watched Isabella Rossi brutally assault a pregnant Khloe. They watched the shove, the shattered glass, the kick to the stomach. And then, the audio played—Khloe had hired a lip-reader to subtitle the silence.
The text appeared on the screen as Marcus walked into the hospital room: “Wipe the servers. I will not have my family name dragged through the mud. Khloe will recover.”
The boardroom went dead silent. The executives stared at Marcus not just as a financial liability, but as a monster.
"He covered up an attempted murder to protect the European merger," Khloe stated coldly. "A merger he is using to line his own pockets before he cashes out the Jonathan Thorne trust fund and leaves this company bankrupt."
Marcus was shaking. He looked cornered, trapped like a rat. "You... you bitch," he sneered, lunging across the table toward her.
Before he could reach her, Richard stepped in, shoving Marcus hard in the chest. Marcus stumbled backward, crashing into the projector stand.
"According to the moral turpitude clause in the CEO bylaws," Elias Vance announced loudly over the commotion, "Marcus Thorne is immediately stripped of his title pending a federal investigation. And since his shares are still in escrow, control of Thorne Industries defaults to the board."

Khloe looked down at Marcus as he scrambled to his feet, breathless and panicked.
"You told me to know my place, Marcus," Khloe said, her voice echoing with finality. "My place is at the head of this table. Now get out of my building."
