Chapter 13: Safehouse Delta

The rain was lashing hard against the reinforced glass windows of Safehouse Delta—a nondescript, high-security brownstone nestled in an industrial district of Boston. Inside, the room was bathed in the cool blue glow of multiple tactical monitors and encryption decoders.
Serena stood over a large digital table map, tracking satellite telemetry feeds alongside two tactical analysts in civilian tactical gear.
The heavy security door unlocked with a pneumatic hiss, and Victor stepped into the room, shaking the rain from his dark jacket. He looked tired, his eyes shadowed with exhaustion, but his posture was rigid and resolute.
"Where is Ethan?" Serena asked immediately, looking past him.
"Safe," Victor said firmly. "I left him with a secure, deep-cover protection detail in New Hampshire. No one knows where he is except you and me."
Serena nodded in approval, gesturing toward the main display terminal. "Good. Because what we found twenty minutes ago changes everything."
She tapped the touchscreen, bringing up a high-resolution satellite imagery feed of a secluded, ultra-modern alpine compound located deep in the Swiss Alps.
"This is the source of the ping that reached your landline this morning," Serena explained. "It’s an abandoned Cold War communications bunker repurposed as an independent data center. Owned by a holding company tied directly to Victoria Mercer's offshore accounts."
Victor stepped closer, staring at the compound on the screen. "She survived."
"She survived," Serena confirmed. "Our marine recovery teams pulled an unidentified female operative out of the North Atlantic shipping lanes three weeks ago, suffering from severe hypothermia and a gunshot wound to the right shoulder. She escaped the medical facility before federal marshals could process her ID. It was Victoria."
"She’s rebuilding the ledger," Victor said, his fists clenching at his sides.
"Worse than that," Serena replied, pulling up a secondary file containing financial transaction logs. "She isn't just trying to steal the money anymore. She’s initiating a global asset freeze across major international banking institutions. If she succeeds, she controls the primary financial infrastructure of the Western world. And to finalize the network sync, she needs the living biometric signature of Clara's direct heir."
"Ethan," Victor muttered, a cold fury rising in his chest. "She's coming for my son."
"Not yet," Serena said. "Right now, she’s setting a trap. She wants us to come to her. That ping to your house in Maine was a calculated bait. She knew you'd call me, she knew we'd trace it, and she's waiting for us in the Alps."
May you like
Victor looked up from the screen, his gaze meeting Serena's with absolute clarity.
"Then we take the bait," Victor said. "We go to Switzerland."
