Chapter 2 - The Secret Hidden Beneath the Funeral Hall

Chapter 2 - The Secret Hidden Beneath the Funeral Hall
The world woke up the next morning to a funeral story that nobody could explain.
Every major news channel showed the same shocking footage.
A ten-year-old boy standing beside his mother’s casket.

A hammer in his hands.
A room full of terrified witnesses.
But the most important moment was missing from most broadcasts.
The moment when Claire Bell opened her eyes.
The moment when everyone realized Noah had not destroyed a funeral.
He had stopped a murder.
Inside St. Catherine Memorial Hospital, Claire lay beneath bright white lights while doctors examined every detail of her condition.
Her body was weak.
Her throat was damaged.
Her voice was barely a whisper.
But her mind was clear.
And she remembered everything.
Detective Marcus Reed entered the hospital room shortly after sunrise.
He was known for solving complicated cases because he noticed the smallest details others ignored.
He placed a folder on the table beside Claire’s bed.
“Mrs. Bell, I need to ask you some questions.”
Claire looked toward Noah, who was sleeping in a chair beside her.
His small hand was still holding onto the edge of her blanket.
“He saved me.”
Detective Reed nodded.
“He did.”
Claire closed her eyes.
A tear moved down her cheek.
“My son knew.”
The detective looked confused.
“Knew what?”
“That I wasn’t dead.”
The room became silent.
“How?”
Claire looked at Noah.
“I don’t know.”
“But he was certain.”
“He kept telling everyone.”
Detective Reed opened his folder.
“Before the funeral, did you speak to anyone?”
Claire hesitated.
The hesitation was enough for him to notice.
“Yes.”
“Who?”
“My husband.”
The name changed the atmosphere immediately.
Daniel Harrow.
The wealthy businessman.
The respected family man.
The man everyone believed had lost his wife.
Detective Reed leaned forward.
“What did Daniel say?”
Claire stared at the ceiling.
“He told me everything would be over soon.”
The detective slowly turned a page.
“What does that mean?”
Claire’s breathing became heavier.
“I thought he meant our marriage.”
A long pause followed.
“But I was wrong.”
Across town, Daniel Harrow sat inside a private law office overlooking the city.
His attorney placed a cup of coffee on the table.
“This situation is getting worse.”
Daniel looked through the window.
“The police have no proof.”
“They have a woman who was found alive inside a casket.”
Daniel remained silent.
“They have your gun.”
“It was legal.”
“They have security footage showing you pointing it at your stepson.”
Daniel finally turned around.
“Careful.”
His attorney stopped speaking.
Daniel’s voice became colder.
“Noah was confused.”
“Noah saved Claire.”
Daniel’s jaw tightened.
“That is what people think.”
The attorney studied him.
“What are you saying?”
Daniel looked down at the newspaper on the table.
The headline was already spreading everywhere.
BOY STOPS FUNERAL AFTER DISCOVERING MOTHER ALIVE.
“He was not supposed to open that casket.”
The attorney stared at him.
“Why?”
Daniel said nothing.
Because the truth was something even he could not control.
Noah had found something before anyone else.
Something hidden inside Claire’s room.
Something Daniel believed was destroyed.
Back at the hospital, Noah finally woke up.
His eyes immediately searched for his mother.
“Mom?”
Claire reached for his hand.
“I’m here.”
Noah started crying.
“I told them.”
Claire held his fingers tightly.
“I know.”
“They said I was wrong.”
“I know.”
“They said you were gone.”
Claire looked at him.
“Why did you know I was alive?”
Noah looked down.
For the first time, fear appeared on his face.
“Because I heard you.”
Claire froze.
“Heard me?”
“Three nights before the funeral.”
The room went completely quiet.
Noah swallowed.
“I heard knocking.”
Claire stared at him.
“Where?”
“In the basement.”
A cold feeling moved through her.
Daniel had told everyone the basement was empty.
The house had no secrets.
But Noah knew better.
“I went downstairs.”
“What did you see?”
Noah looked toward the closed hospital door.
Then he whispered.
“Someone was hiding you.”
Claire’s expression changed.
“Who?”
Noah’s voice became smaller.
“I don’t know.”
“But I saw their shoes.”
Detective Reed, standing outside the room, stopped when he heard those words.
Because the case had just changed.
Claire Bell was not only a woman who survived a terrible crime.
May you like
She was the missing piece of a conspiracy.
And Noah was the only witness who had seen the person behind it.
