The stress of the depositions, the custody battle, and the Vales' relentless media spin took a heavy toll. At thirty-four weeks pregnant, Claire began experiencing severe cramping.
Sarah rushed her back to the hospital. "Her blood pressure is dangerously high," Dr. Evans warned. "We need to induce labor. Her body can't handle this stress anymore."
Claire gripped the hospital bed rails, terrified. It was too early. Richard is still hurting us, she thought. Even from afar, he's still hurting us.
