Chapter 6 — The Secret Khloe Never Knew

Chapter 6 — The Secret Khloe Never Knew

Harrison Cole had spent his entire career searching for hidden truths.

He had uncovered corruption buried beneath corporate walls.

He had exposed lies hidden behind expensive suits.

He had watched powerful people collapse because they believed money could protect them forever.

But nothing prepared him for one simple message.

Ask your sister about the night she was born.

Because whoever sent it knew something personal.

Something impossible for a stranger to know.

And Harrison hated one thing more than enemies.

Unknown variables.

At 6:00 a.m., Harrison knocked gently on Khloe’s bedroom door.

She was awake.

He noticed immediately.

She had barely slept.

The previous night’s revelation about the baby had changed everything.

She looked at him from the bed.

“Something happened.”

It wasn’t a question.

Harrison walked inside.

“Yes.”

Khloe sat up slowly.

“What?”

He hesitated.

That alone frightened her.

“Harry?”

Harrison handed her his phone.

She read the message.

Her face changed.

“What does this mean?”

“I don’t know yet.”

She looked at him.

“But you think I do.”

Harrison remained silent.

Khloe stared at the screen again.

“The night I was born?”

“Yes.”

She looked confused.

“My birth?”

“Tell me everything you remember.”

Khloe almost laughed.

“I was a baby.”

“Anything your parents told you.”

She became quiet.

Then she looked away.

“There was always something strange about my birth.”

Harrison’s expression sharpened.

“What?”

Khloe hesitated.

“My parents never liked talking about it.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know.”

She paused.

“My mother always said it was a difficult time.”

“Difficult how?”

Khloe looked down.

“She said there were complications.”

Harrison sat beside her.

“What kind of complications?”

“I was told I almost didn’t survive.”

Silence filled the room.

Harrison leaned forward.

“Who told you that?”

“My mother.”

“And your father?”

Khloe’s eyes moved toward the window.

“My father never talked about it.”

That answer bothered Harrison.

Because silence was often where secrets lived.

Two hours later, Harrison and Daniel were inside the Cole family archives.

Years of documents filled the shelves.

Birth certificates.

Medical records.

Family history.

Harrison had never searched through them before.

He never had a reason.

Until now.

Daniel placed an old box on the table.

“Your parents kept everything.”

Harrison opened it.

Inside were photographs.

Letters.

Hospital documents.

He found Khloe’s birth certificate.

Everything looked normal.

Until he noticed the date.

He frowned.

“What?”

Daniel asked.

Harrison pointed.

“This was filed six months after her birth.”

Daniel looked surprised.

“That’s unusual.”

“Very.”

He opened another document.

A hospital record.

Then another.

Then another.

The more he read…

The quieter he became.

Daniel noticed.

“What is it?”

Harrison looked up.

“Khloe’s original birth records are missing.”

Meanwhile, Richard Harrington was having his own problems.

The board had suspended several financial operations.

Investors were demanding answers.

His attorneys were overwhelmed.

And now Vanessa had disappeared.

He called her repeatedly.

No answer.

Finally, someone picked up.

But it wasn’t Vanessa.

It was Charles Kensington.

Richard froze.

“Where is she?”

Charles’s voice was calm.

“Safe.”

“Give her the phone.”

“No.”

Richard’s anger rose.

“You can’t control everything.”

Charles laughed softly.

“Actually, Richard…”

A pause.

“I can.”

Richard gripped the phone.

“You used me.”

“No.”

Charles corrected him.

“I invested in you.”

“You manipulated me.”

“Those are different words for the same thing.”

Richard felt sick.

After all these years…

He finally understood.

He was never the owner of the empire.

He was just the face.

That afternoon, Harrison met with an old family doctor.

Dr. Samuel Whitmore.

The man was retired now.

Living quietly outside Philadelphia.

When Harrison arrived, the doctor immediately looked uncomfortable.

“You know why I’m here.”

Dr. Whitmore sighed.

“I hoped nobody would ever ask.”

Harrison became still.

“You know something about my sister’s birth.”

The doctor looked away.

“Yes.”

“What?”

A long silence.

Then:

“Khloe was not supposed to be born in that hospital.”

Harrison’s expression changed.

“What does that mean?”

“There were unusual circumstances.”

“Explain.”

Dr. Whitmore folded his hands.

“Your parents were protecting her.”

“From who?”

The doctor looked at him.

“People with power.”

Harrison’s voice became colder.

“Names.”

Dr. Whitmore hesitated.

Then whispered:

“Kensington.”

For several seconds, Harrison said nothing.

The name echoed in his mind.

Kensington.

The same family connected to Richard.

The same family connected to Vanessa.

The same family now threatening his sister.

“Why would they care about Khloe?”

Dr. Whitmore looked afraid.

“Because your sister’s existence changed everything.”

“What does that mean?”

The doctor stood slowly.

“Your father discovered something.”

“What?”

“He discovered that the Kensington family had been hiding financial crimes for decades.”

Harrison stared.

“And Khloe?”

“Your father believed she was the only person who could expose them.”

“That makes no sense.”

“It will.”

Dr. Whitmore opened an old cabinet.

Inside was a sealed envelope.

“This was left for Khloe.”

Harrison looked at it.

“By who?”

“Your father.”

Harrison took the envelope.

“Why didn’t he give it to her?”

The doctor’s expression became painful.

“Because he died before he could.”

That evening, Harrison returned home.

Khloe immediately knew something was wrong.

“You found something.”

He sat down across from her.

“Yes.”

“What?”

He placed the envelope on the table.

Her name was written across the front.

Her hands trembled.

“My father?”

Harrison nodded.

She slowly opened it.

Inside was a letter.

A letter written decades earlier.

Khloe read the first line.

Then she stopped.

Her eyes filled with confusion.

“What?”

Harrison watched her.

“What does it say?”

Her voice shook.

“It says…”

She looked up.

“My entire life has been based on a lie.”

Harrison felt his stomach tighten.

“What lie?”

Khloe looked back at the letter.

Then whispered:

“My parents were not my biological parents.”

Silence.

The room seemed to stop.

Harrison stared at her.

“What?”

Khloe’s hands began shaking.

“There’s more.”

“What?”

She looked at him.

“The people who raised me…”

A tear fell down her face.

“They were protecting me.”

Harrison slowly stood.

“From who?”

Khloe looked at the letter again.

And the answer terrified them both.

“From the Kensington family.”

Across the city, Charles Kensington stood inside his private office.

His assistant entered.

“Mr. Kensington.”

“Yes?”

“Cole has discovered the truth.”

Charles did not react.

Only smiled.

“Good.”

The assistant looked confused.

“Good?”

“Yes.”

Charles looked out over the city.

“Now he will finally understand.”

“Understand what?”

Charles smiled.

“That Khloe Harrington was never an accident.”

May you like

A pause.

“She was the reason everything started.”
