Chapter 19: The Fall of the Three

The retaliation was not a battle. It was a masterclass in absolute, surgical destruction.

Damiano did not send a warning. He did not ask for a sit-down. He unleashed the full, terrifying might of the Verrone empire all at once, in a coordinated strike that the New York underworld would whisper about for centuries.

At 2:00 AM, Don Colombo’s illegal casino in Queens was raided. Not by the police, but by Damiano’s tactical assault teams. They didn't leave a single survivor.

At 2:15 AM, Don Gambino’s shipping freighters docked in Brooklyn mysteriously caught fire, sinking millions of dollars of illicit cargo to the bottom of the East River.

And at 3:00 AM, Damiano Verrone kicked down the front door of Don Lucchese’s heavily fortified mansion on Long Island, holding a custom AR-15.

The security forces were decimated in minutes. Damiano moved through the mansion like a reaper, completely untouchable, fueled by the terrifying wrath of a father protecting his blood.

He found the three Dons cowering in a panic room in the basement. They had gathered there, foolishly believing their combined forces could withstand the storm. They were wrong.

Damiano blew the hinges off the safe room door with a shaped charge. He stepped through the smoke, his suit covered in dust and blood, his eyes glowing with an unholy darkness.

"Verrone! Wait!" Colombo shrieked, backing into a corner. "It was business! Only business!"

"Business?" Damiano echoed, his voice a guttural growl that reverberated off the steel walls. He raised his rifle, aiming it squarely at Colombo’s chest. "You targeted a six-year-old girl eating a birthday cake. You crossed the line of the old codes. You brought this on yourselves."

"If you kill us, the Commission will fall! The city will descend into chaos!" Gambino pleaded, his hands raised in surrender.

"There is no Commission anymore," Damiano stated coldly. "There is only me."

He pulled the trigger.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

In less than three seconds, the leaders of the three rival families lay dead on the floor. The war was over before the sun even had a chance to rise over the Manhattan skyline. Damiano stood in the silent room, the smell of gunpowder heavy in the air.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. It rang once before it was answered.

"Is it done?" Elena’s soft voice came through the speaker.

"It's done, mia regina," Damiano breathed out, the heavy weight of the underworld finally settling solely onto his shoulders. "The city is ours. You and Mia are safe. Forever."

"Come home to us, Damiano," she whispered.

"I am on my way."
