Chapter 7: The Boardroom Coup

8:00 AM, Moretti Enterprises Skyscraper
The boardroom on the 80th floor was a theater of war, all glass, steel, and suffocating tension.
Arthur Cole sat at the far end of the massive mahogany table, flanked by three board members he had managed to buy off. He looked smug, confident, and ready for a slaughter.
"Alessandro's erratic behavior is a liability," Cole was telling the room, his voice dripping with faux concern. "Canceling an engagement to my daughter over the ramblings of a delirious maid? It shows a complete mental fracture. The stock is taking a hit. For the good of the company, we must hold a vote of no confidence and install an interim CEO."
The double doors at the back of the room opened.
Alessandro walked in. He didn't look broken. He looked like an executioner.
Marcus and two heavily armed security guards flanked him. The room fell into a deathly silence. Alessandro didn't sit down. He walked straight to the head of the table and tossed a thick manila folder directly in front of Arthur Cole.
"Go ahead, Arthur," Alessandro said smoothly, adjusting his custom-tailored cuffs. "Open it. Show the board my erratic behavior."
Arthur’s smug smile faltered. He opened the folder. Inside were high-resolution photographs of the silicone maternity belly, the original purchase receipt with Vanessa's signature, and a sworn statement from the boutique clerk who had sold it to her.
"That's a prop," Alessandro addressed the board, his voice cutting like a diamond saw. "A prop used by Vanessa Cole to fake a pregnancy and force a merger. A fraud engineered by her father."
The board members gasped, leaning in to look at the undeniable proof.
"This is fabricated!" Arthur roared, slamming his fist on the table. "You paid someone to make this!"
"I didn't stop there," Alessandro continued, ignoring the outburst. He dropped a second folder onto the table. "These are the routing numbers for offshore accounts belonging to Cole Enterprises. Accounts tied directly to the bribery of union officials and safety inspectors on the Pier 42 project three years ago."
Arthur Cole’s face drained of color. The mention of Pier 42 was a kill shot.
"If this board attempts a vote of no confidence," Alessandro said softly, scanning the room, "I will hand these files to the FBI. I will sink Cole Enterprises, and anyone who voted with Arthur today will go down for corporate conspiracy."

He leaned over the table, getting directly into Arthur's pale, sweating face.
"You wanted my empire, Arthur. Instead, you just lost yours. Get out of my building."
