After examining the security footage from multiple cameras, investigators confirmed that the maid had never entered the jewelry room during the time of the theft.
Instead, every camera pointed to the young man.
The footage showed him hiding the necklace inside a decorative vase in the library before returning to the party and accusing the maid.
Police recovered the necklace exactly where the video showed it.
One guest shook his head.
"He framed her from the beginning."
The older man turned to his grandson with disappointment.
"Why would you do something like this?"
The young man looked down.
