Chapter 2: The Man Who Thought He Owned Everything

The mansion doors opened again.

"What's going on?"

Richard Carter strode inside wearing an expensive tailored suit.

His expression changed the moment he saw police officers surrounding his wife.

Then he noticed Vanessa in handcuffs.

"What the hell is this?"

Vanessa ran toward him.

"Richard! Tell them she's lying!"

Instead of answering, Ruiz handed Richard another file.

"Mr. Carter, we'd like to discuss the transfers."

Richard frowned.

"What transfers?"

"The forty-three million dollars quietly moved from your family trust."

His confidence disappeared.

Ruiz continued.

"The money wasn't stolen."

He looked directly into Richard's eyes.

"It was never yours."

Evelyn slowly stood with the help of paramedics.

"I founded Carter Medical Technologies."

Richard laughed.

"No, my father did."

Evelyn reached into her purse and produced a faded leather notebook.

"My husband financed it."

She opened the first page.

Every patent.

Every prototype.

Every signature.

All bearing her late husband's name.

Then came the final document.

The original ownership agreement.

Richard had never inherited the company.

He had inherited the illusion.

Years earlier, Evelyn had quietly transferred every controlling share into a protected trust that only she could release.

Richard stared at the papers in disbelief.

"You... planned this?"

"No."

May you like

She smiled sadly.

"I prepared for the day you'd show me who you truly were."
