The doctor spoke again.
“Everything matches. The patient agreed to relinquish parental rights immediately after delivery.”
My breath caught.
Relinquish parental rights?
No. No, I would never—
Linda sighed. “She was heavily medicated. It was for her own good. She’ll understand later.”
Medicated.
That explained the fog… the weakness… the gaps in my memory after delivery.
I forced myself to stay silent.
Emily slowly pulled something from her pocket.
My hospital bracelet.
But something was wrong.
There was a second bracelet attached underneath mine.
With a different name.
Not mine.
My blood ran cold again.
