CHAPTER 2 – ELENA'S PRISON

CHAPTER 2 – ELENA'S PRISON
The massive iron key still hung exactly where Alejandro remembered.
Only now...
The lock had been changed.
Bolt cutters snapped through the steel within seconds.
The heavy wooden door groaned open.
A wave of damp air rolled into the hallway.
Dust covered everything.
Except one room.
The bedroom was spotless.
The bed had restraints hidden beneath its wooden frame.
A small desk held stacks of children's coloring books.
Every page showed the same picture.
A woman standing behind a window.
Next to her...
A man searching in the rain.
Every drawing was signed with shaky handwriting.
Elena.
Alejandro felt the room spin.
His wife had known he was looking for her.
Every single day.
Then he noticed the calendar.
More than one thousand days.
Every date had a tiny mark scratched into it.
She had counted every sunrise she survived.
Security officers continued searching.
One called out.
"Sir..."
Hidden behind the wardrobe was another door.
It led downstairs.
Into a narrow basement room.
There was no bed.
Only a mattress.
Chains bolted into concrete.
Alejandro couldn't breathe.
Elena quietly covered her eyes.
"I begged them not to bring you here..."
His voice cracked.
"Who?"
Tears streamed down her face.
"My own sister."
The hallway fell silent.
Alejandro slowly turned toward Vivian.
"Explain."
May you like
Vivian whispered only two words.
"She's lying."
