CHAPTER 1 – THE LOCKED WING

CHAPTER 1 – THE LOCKED WING

No one moved.

The servants stood frozen, afraid that even the sound of their breathing might become their next mistake.

Vivian Moretti slowly set her wine glass on the railing. Her confident smile returned, though it no longer reached her eyes.

"You've misunderstood the situation," she said smoothly. "That woman isn't your wife. She's a mentally unstable patient I rescued three years ago. She only resembles Elena."

Alejandro didn't answer.

Instead, he walked directly toward Elena.

She instinctively stepped backward.

"No..." she whispered, trembling. "Please... don't let her punish them."

Her words struck him harder than any accusation.

Not me.

Not help me.

She was worried about the servants.

Three years had taught her that everyone suffered whenever she disobeyed.

Alejandro gently lifted her trembling hands.

The bruises were older than he first thought.

Some were healing.

Others were fresh.

His jaw tightened.

"Who did this?"

Elena's lips parted, but no words came out.

She only glanced toward Vivian.

That single glance was all Alejandro needed.

His security team stormed through the front doors.

Within seconds, every entrance to the mansion was sealed.

Vivian laughed softly.

"You think this changes anything? Every document says Elena Castillo died in a boating accident three years ago."

Alejandro looked at her with frightening calm.

"Then someone forged my wife's death."

He turned to his head of security.

"Search every room."

One elderly housekeeper suddenly burst into tears.

"Sir..."

Everyone looked at her.

"The east wing..."

Her voice shook.

"You've kept it locked ever since Mrs. Castillo disappeared."

Vivian's face lost its color.

"No one goes in there."

Alejandro slowly looked toward the hallway leading to the abandoned wing of the mansion.

The only place he had never searched.

Because someone had made sure he never could.
