CHAPTER 13 — The Name That Was Erased

CHAPTER 13 — The Name That Was Erased
The world wanted answers.
Within twenty-four hours, Elena Voss went from being praised as the most powerful woman in business to becoming the center of a global controversy.
News channels repeated the same questions.
“Who really founded Voss Global Holdings?”
“What secret has Elena Voss been hiding for decades?”
“Is the company built on a hidden history?”
For most people, the headlines were just entertainment.

Another billionaire scandal.
Another corporate mystery.
But inside Voss Global Holdings, the atmosphere was completely different.
Employees were nervous.
Investors were uncertain.
Board members demanded explanations.
And everyone looked toward one person.
Elena Voss.
Elena stood in front of the boardroom windows, watching reporters gather outside the headquarters.
Richard entered quietly.
“The board meeting starts in ten minutes.”
Elena didn’t turn around.
“I know.”
“They’re worried.”
“I know.”
“They want reassurance.”
This time, Elena turned.
“They want certainty.”
Richard nodded.
“Yes.”
She looked at the city below.
“For years, I gave them certainty.”
A pause.
“Now I need to give them the truth.”
The boardroom was full when Elena entered.
No one spoke.
The tension was obvious.
These were the same people who had trusted her decisions for years.
But today, they needed answers.
One board member spoke first.
“Ms. Voss, we need to understand what is happening.”
Elena sat down.
“You deserve that.”
Another executive opened a folder.
“The media is claiming the company’s history was altered.”
Elena remained calm.
“They are correct.”
The room immediately became louder.
Several executives exchanged shocked looks.
Richard watched silently.
Because he knew this was the hardest moment.
Not because Elena was afraid.
Because she was choosing honesty over protection.
“Before Voss Global Holdings existed,” Elena began, “there was another company.”
The room became quiet.
“It was called Voss International Development.”
She looked at the old documents.
“My father was not the only founder.”
A pause.
“There was another person.”
One executive leaned forward.
“Who?”
Elena answered:
“Alexander Reed.”
The name appeared on the screen behind her.
A name that had been missing from every official record for twenty-five years.
Across the city, Victor watched the broadcast.
His smile slowly disappeared.
Because this was not the reaction he expected.
He expected Elena to deny everything.
He expected panic.
Instead, she was revealing the truth.
But there was still one thing Victor didn’t know.
Why?
Why would Elena expose a secret she had spent decades protecting?
Back in the boardroom, Elena continued.
“Alexander Reed was my father’s closest friend and business partner.”
She paused.
“Together, they built the foundation of what would become Voss Global Holdings.”
A board member asked:
“Then why was his name removed?”
Elena looked down.
“Because he asked us to remove it.”
The room went silent.
Richard looked surprised.
Even he had never heard that part.
Twenty-five years earlier…
Alexander Reed discovered that someone inside the company was manipulating financial records.
He found hidden transactions.
Fake partnerships.
Illegal transfers.
And the person responsible was someone nobody suspected.
Victor Harrington.
When Alexander tried to expose the truth, Victor threatened to destroy everything.
The company.
The investors.
The people who depended on it.
Alexander made a difficult choice.
He stepped away.
He disappeared from the public eye.
And before leaving, he made Elena’s father promise something.
Protect the company.
Protect the employees.
Protect the future.
Even if it meant removing his name from history.
Back in the present, Elena looked at the board.
“My father honored that promise.”
She took a breath.
“I honored it too.”
The room remained silent.
Then one board member asked:
“Where is Alexander Reed now?”
Elena hesitated.
For the first time during the meeting, uncertainty appeared on her face.
“I don’t know.”
That evening, Damian visited Elena.
He found her sitting alone in her office.
“You never knew?”
Elena looked up.
“No.”
“Not even after all these years?”
She shook her head.
“My father tried to find him.”
“And?”
“Nothing.”
Damian sat down.
“So Victor knew about him?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t he reveal this years ago?”
Elena looked at the documents.
“Because Victor doesn’t want the truth.”
She looked at Damian.
“He wants control over the story.”
A few hours later, Jonathan called Damian.
“We found something.”
Damian immediately stood.
“What?”
“An old company record.”
“Connected to Alexander Reed?”
“Yes.”
Damian looked at Elena.
“Where?”
Jonathan’s voice became serious.
“In a private archive.”
“Whose archive?”
A pause.
Then:
“Victor Harrington’s.”
The next morning, Damian and Elena arrived at the location.
A hidden storage facility outside the city.
Inside were thousands of documents.
Old contracts.
Financial records.
Personal letters.
Evidence from decades ago.
Richard opened one box.
“This is everything.”
Elena carefully lifted a document.
Her hands stopped.
Because she recognized the handwriting.
Her father’s.
She opened the letter.
Only one sentence was written.
“Elena, if you are reading this, Victor has finally returned.”
Her heart tightened.
She continued reading.
“But remember this: the person who exposes the truth is not always the person who owns it.”
Damian looked at her.
“What does that mean?”
Before Elena could answer, a sound came from behind them.
Footsteps.
Slow.
Controlled.
Someone was entering the archive.
Everyone turned.
A man stood in the doorway.
Older.
Tired.
But familiar.
Elena froze.
The document slipped from her hand.
Because she knew that face.
A face she had spent twenty-five years believing she would never see again.
“Alexander…”
The man looked at her.
And quietly said:
“Elena.”

The secret founder of the empire had returned.
And he had a truth that could change everything.
