CHAPTER 3 — THE WOMAN THEY NEVER STUDIED

By morning, the headlines had already spread.

“Tech Empire COLLAPSES Overnight”
“Majority Shareholder Revealed: Lucas Family Ousted”
“Mysterious Investor ‘I.M.’ Takes Control”

Inside a glass high-rise downtown, I stood in front of a wall of monitors.

My assistant approached.

“The board is waiting for your final confirmation, ma’am.”

I nodded once.

“Proceed.”

Behind me, one of the executives whispered:

“She was inside the company all along…”

Another answered quietly:

“Not inside.”

“She was the company.”

At that moment, Lucas called.

I stared at the ringing phone.

Then answered.

His voice was no longer arrogant.

It was broken.

“You planned this for years…”

I turned toward the city skyline.

“No,” I said softly.

“I planned it the moment you stopped seeing me as human.”

Silence.

Then:

“…What do you want?”

I finally smiled.

May you like

“Everything you thought you owned.”

And I hung up.
