The silence in the mansion didn’t last long.

It never does when money starts dying.

Lucas stood frozen, staring at his phone like it had betrayed him personally.

“No… no, this can’t be real,” he muttered.

Richard was already shouting into his device.

“Liquidate assets! Contact the board! NOW!”

But nothing worked.

Every account was locked.

Every transfer rejected.

Every line of credit frozen.

Sophie backed away slowly, one hand still on her stomach.

“What did you people do to me?” she whispered.

I paused at the doorway, not turning back.

“You were never part of this equation,” I said calmly.

Lucas’s voice cracked behind me.

“Isabella… please…”

That was the first time he said my name like it actually mattered.
