PART 4: Justice in the Courtroom
Months later, the courtroom was filled.
Jason sat beside his attorney.
Sarah's father sat several feet away, no longer carrying the confidence he once had.
The prosecutor played the recording.
No one moved.
Every sound echoed through the courtroom.
The insult.
The shove.
The fall.
The laughter.
Jurors watched without looking away.
When Sarah testified, her voice remained steady.
"I didn't want revenge," she said.
"I just wanted someone to believe me."
Daniel later took the stand.
"I thought I had arrived too late," he told the jury.
"But my wife found the courage to protect herself before any of us knew she would need to."
After several hours of deliberation, the jury returned.
Jason was found guilty.
Sarah's father was convicted for attempting to cover up the assault and for lying during the investigation.
Neither man smiled again as they were led from the courtroom.

Sarah quietly rested her hand over her stomach.
The nightmare was finally ending.
