Chapter 2 – The Evidence They Tried to Erase

Bridget was rushed into emergency surgery while Sarah Chen quietly informed the responding officers that the injuries were inconsistent with a simple accident. Before Tyler could regain control of the situation, Detective Daniel Brooks ordered everyone to remain at the house.

Marcus had already deleted the security footage from the home's surveillance system.

Or so Tyler believed.

A forensic technician discovered that the recordings had only been erased from the visible drive. A cloud backup still existed.

Meanwhile, Lauren sat silently in the hospital waiting room with Mason asleep against her shoulder. She avoided everyone's eyes until she finally slipped a folded note into Bridget's hospital bag.

It contained only six words.

"The cameras weren't the only witnesses."

That same evening, Sarah visited Bridget again.

"You told the truth," Sarah said.

Bridget looked toward the ceiling.

"No one in my family ever believes me."

Sarah answered calmly.

"They don't have to. Evidence does."
