No exclusive guest lists.
Community volunteers sat beside business executives.
Teachers shared tables with CEOs.
Retired veterans laughed with college students.
Every guest wore only a simple name tag.
No titles.
No company logos.
No clues about wealth.
Before dinner began, Nathan stepped onto the stage.
"Last year, this room taught us an unforgettable lesson."
He invited Leah and Margaret to stand beside him.
"The strongest communities aren't built by the richest people."
He smiled at Leah.
"They're built by the kindest ones."
The ballroom rose in a standing ovation.
Many guests wiped away tears.
