Chapter 5 – A New Beginning

Six months later, Emily and Daniel stood once again at the altar.

This time, Emily wore a simple ivory gown.

Nothing extravagant.

Nothing borrowed.

Only hope.

Rebecca helped fasten Emily's necklace.

Her adoptive mother adjusted her veil.

The two women smiled warmly at each other.

Daniel whispered as Emily reached him,

"Ready?"

She smiled.

"More than ever."

When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, the room erupted in applause.

Margaret quietly wiped away tears.

She had nearly destroyed the happiest day of Emily's life because she had acted on anger instead of asking questions.

After the ceremony, she approached Emily.

"I'm sorry."

Emily took her hand.

"We can't change yesterday."

"But we can choose tomorrow."

Margaret smiled for the first time in months.

Outside, dozens of butterflies drifted across the garden as if nature itself had come to celebrate.

Emily watched them disappear into the blue sky.

She had spent her whole life searching for where she belonged.

Now she finally knew.

Family wasn't defined only by blood.

It was built by love, forgiveness, and the courage to embrace the truth.
