Chapter 3 – The DNA Results
Three weeks later, the DNA results arrived.
Emily, Daniel, Margaret, and Rebecca gathered around the kitchen table.
Rebecca's hands shook as she opened the envelope.
She couldn't bring herself to read it.
Daniel quietly took the papers.
His eyes widened.
"It's a 99.99% match."
Rebecca burst into tears.
"My little girl..."
Emily stood frozen.
She had imagined this moment thousands of times, but reality felt overwhelming.
Rebecca slowly approached.
"I'm not asking you to call me Mom."
"I just want the chance to know you."
Emily looked into Rebecca's tear-filled eyes.
For the first time, she saw someone who looked like her.
The same smile.
The same green eyes.
