Emily sat quietly in the family study while a doctor confirmed that both she and the baby had escaped serious injury.
The relief lasted only a moment.
"Why?" Emily whispered.
No one answered.
Until Victoria finally broke.
"It was supposed to be my life!" she screamed.
"I was supposed to inherit everything!"
The confession stunned everyone.
Victoria admitted she had secretly learned that the family's will would leave the majority of the estate to Emily's unborn child—the first grandchild of the family.
Driven by jealousy and greed, she believed that if Emily lost the baby, the inheritance would change.
Instead of sympathy, she found only disgust.
The older man slowly removed the family ring from his finger.
"You are no longer part of this family."
Victoria burst into tears as security officers escorted her toward the front entrance.
