The next morning, every employee across Kingston Luxury Group received an urgent email.
Mandatory company meeting.
Vanessa arrived hoping she still had a chance.
Instead, Adrian walked onto the stage beside Emma and Sophie.
He addressed hundreds of employees.
"Luxury is not measured by the price of what's on the shelves."
He paused.
"It's measured by how we treat people who have nothing."
The audience applauded.
Adrian turned toward Emma.
"Yesterday you lost your job because you chose compassion."
He smiled.
"So today..."
He handed her a folder.
"...I'm giving you a better one."
Emma slowly opened it.
Regional Director of Customer Experience.
Salary: $325,000 per year.
She looked stunned.
"I've never managed people."
"You already have."
Adrian glanced at the audience.
"You led by example."
The room erupted into applause.
Then Adrian faced Vanessa one final time.
"You weren't fired because you made a mistake."
"You were fired because your values endangered every customer who walks through our doors."
