Chapter 14: The Man Behind The Falcon

Chapter 14: The Man Behind The Falcon

The photograph fell onto the table.

But Leo Rossi did not pick it up.

He didn’t need to.

He already knew what it showed.

Lily.

His daughter.

His entire world.

A picture taken without his knowledge.

Again.

Richard Kensington smiled as he watched the anger rise in Leo’s eyes.

But unlike Victoria, Richard was not afraid of Leo.

That was what made him dangerous.

“You see, Leo,” Richard said calmly, “you have always had the same weakness.”

Leo stared at him.

“My daughter is not a weakness.”

Richard smiled.

“That’s exactly what makes her one.”

The room became silent.

Mateo stepped forward.

“You made a mistake coming here.”

Richard looked at him.

“No, Mateo.”

He laughed softly.

“You made the mistake of believing this was about revenge.”

He looked around the Blue Chamber.

“This is about inheritance.”

Leo had faced many enemies.

Most wanted money.

Some wanted power.

Others wanted revenge.

But Richard Kensington was different.

He didn’t hate Leo.

He believed he deserved Leo’s life.

The empire.

The influence.

The respect.

Everything.

“You spent your entire life sitting on something that belonged to someone else,” Richard said.

Leo’s expression remained cold.

“Is that what you tell yourself?”

Richard ignored the insult.

“My family helped build this world.”

“No.”

Leo stepped closer.

“My family built it.”

Richard smiled.

“Your father built the foundation.”

A pause.

“But I built the future.”

Victoria stood beside her father.

But something about her had changed.

She no longer looked confident.

She looked uncomfortable.

Leo noticed.

“Victoria.”

She looked at him.

“How long?”

She knew what he meant.

“How long did you know?”

Victoria looked down.

Richard answered for her.

“Long enough.”

Leo’s eyes hardened.

“You used your own daughter.”

Richard shrugged.

“Everyone serves a purpose.”

Victoria flinched.

For the first time, Leo saw something clearly.

Richard did not love his daughter.

He owned her.

Beatrice watched Richard carefully.

She had seen men like him before.

Men who believed control was the same as protection.

Men who convinced themselves every terrible thing they did was necessary.

“You were the one behind the building collapse.”

Richard looked at her.

A slow smile appeared.

“So you finally understand.”

Leo turned sharply.

“Explain.”

Beatrice’s face became pale.

Richard walked toward the desk.

“Seven years ago, your wife discovered too much.”

He picked up one of Isabella’s old files.

“She discovered that your father’s empire was not as clean as everyone believed.”

Leo’s jaw tightened.

“My father was not a criminal.”

Richard laughed.

“Everyone says that about the dead.”

Silence.

“Your father made deals.”

“Your uncle continued them.”

“And I simply improved the system.”

Beatrice stepped forward.

“You destroyed innocent lives.”

Richard looked at her.

“You were always emotional.”

Her eyes narrowed.

“I saved people.”

“Yes.”

He smiled.

“That was your problem.”

“You cared.”

Leo looked at Richard.

“You killed Isabella.”

Richard didn’t answer immediately.

That was enough.

Leo understood.

“You did.”

Richard finally looked at him.

“Your wife was brilliant.”

A pause.

“Too brilliant.”

“She found the accounts.”

“She found the names.”

“She found me.”

Leo’s fists tightened.

“And you murdered her.”

Richard sighed.

“I removed a threat.”

The words were so casual that even Victoria looked disgusted.

For years, Leo imagined the person responsible for Isabella’s death.

A monster.

A man driven by rage.

But the truth was worse.

Richard Kensington had done it without anger.

Without hatred.

Just calculation.

Mateo quietly sent a signal through his phone.

Richard noticed.

“You should stop that.”

Mateo froze.

Richard smiled.

“You think I came here without knowing your people would try something?”

The lights in the Blue Chamber flickered.

Then the mansion security screens activated.

Every monitor showed the same image.

Lily.

Sitting in a room somewhere.

Alone.

Leo’s entire body went still.

“Where is she?”

Richard smiled.

“Safe.”

Leo stepped forward.

“Where?”

“Somewhere no one can reach.”

Beatrice immediately noticed something.

Lily was not crying.

Not scared.

She was holding something.

A small stuffed rabbit.

And behind her…

A blue wall.

Beatrice looked around the Blue Chamber.

Then at the screen.

Her eyes widened.

“Wait.”

Everyone looked at her.

“The wall.”

Leo turned.

“What?”

“The color.”

She pointed.

“Lily isn’t in a random room.”

She walked toward the screen.

“She’s in another Blue Room.”

Richard’s smile disappeared slightly.

For the first time…

He looked surprised.

Leo understood.

The Rossi family had more secrets than anyone knew.

And Richard had hidden Lily somewhere connected to the same history.

“Where is that room?”

Richard said nothing.

Beatrice closed her eyes.

Then remembered.

Isabella’s words.

There are always two doors.

“One hidden.”

“One forgotten.”

She turned.

“The old Rossi estate.”

Mateo immediately understood.

“The underground wing.”

Leo looked at him.

“There’s an underground wing?”

Mateo looked uncomfortable.

“I didn’t know.”

Richard smiled again.

“You’re all so close.”

A loud crash came from outside.

Gunfire.

Everyone turned.

Mateo looked toward the door.

“We’re not alone.”

Richard stepped back.

“You should be thanking me.”

Leo stared at him.

“For what?”

“For finally bringing your family together.”

Then Richard pressed a button.

The floor beneath him opened.

A hidden escape passage.

Before disappearing, he looked at Leo.

“Find your daughter.”

A pause.

“Then come find the truth.”

Richard vanished.

Leo immediately moved.

No hesitation.

No fear.

Only one thought.

Lily.

The underground wing was hidden beneath the oldest part of the mansion.

A place even Leo had never seen.

The door opened with the same symbol.

The Falcon.

Inside was another secret chamber.

And in the center of the room…

Was Lily.

Safe.

Waiting.

But she wasn’t alone.

A woman sat beside her.

An older woman.

A woman Leo recognized instantly.

His heart stopped.

“Mom?”

The woman looked up.

Tears filled her eyes.

“Leo.”

For twenty years, he thought he had lost her.

For twenty years, he thought she abandoned him.

But now she was sitting beside his daughter.

Protecting her.

His mother reached toward him.

“I’m sorry.”

Leo stood frozen.

Then he asked the only question that mattered.

“Why?”

Her answer broke him.

“Because I was the reason Isabella discovered the truth.”

Everyone went silent.

Leo stared.

“What are you saying?”

May you like

His mother looked at the Blue Chamber around them.

“I started this.”
