Chapter 1: The Watch That Shouldn't Exist

Silence swallowed the grand lobby.

The security guards stopped mid-step as the billionaire held the little girl's trembling wrist in both hands.

His breathing turned uneven.

The gold Rolex wasn't just expensive—it was impossible.

He recognized the tiny scratch near the clasp.

He had made it himself on the day he bought it.

Ten years ago.

It had been his wedding gift to his wife, Isabella.

No one else in the world should have owned that watch.

"Where... did you get this?" he asked, barely able to speak.

The little girl lowered her eyes.

"My mommy gave it to me."

The answer struck him harder than any bullet ever could.

One of the hotel managers whispered nervously.

"Mr. Carter... should we call the police?"

Ethan Carter ignored him.

Instead, he knelt in front of the frightened child.

"What is your name?"

"Emily."

"How old are you?"

"I'm seven."

"Where is your mother?"

Emily hesitated before quietly answering.

"She's sleeping."

His heart skipped.

"Sleeping where?"

"The old warehouse by the river."

Twenty minutes later...

Instead of attending the billion-dollar charity gala upstairs, Ethan climbed into his black Rolls-Royce with Emily sitting beside him.

The entire hotel watched in disbelief.

The richest man in the city had abandoned the most important event of the year...

For a little girl carrying a bag of empty cans.

As the car pulled away, Ethan couldn't stop staring at the tattoo.

"Forever."

Exactly the same handwriting.

Exactly the same place.

Exactly like Isabella's.

Either this was the greatest coincidence in history...

Or someone had been lying to him for seven years.
