Chapter 2 – Every Lie Has a Witness

Chapter 2 – Every Lie Has a Witness
The temperature dropped five degrees in less than a minute.
Then ten.
Frost crept across the steel walls.
Adrian pounded desperately against the emergency exit.
"Help!"
No answer.
His phone had no signal.
He suddenly heard footsteps.
Not rescuers.
Law enforcement.
The warehouse's front entrance rolled open as federal investigators, police officers, and forensic technicians entered with search warrants already in hand.
Leading them was Detective Sarah Collins.
She looked directly into the surveillance camera.
"Open containment sector four."
Nothing happened.
A calm female voice came over the speakers.
"One moment, Detective."
Everyone froze.
The voice belonged to Evelant.
Seconds later, hidden screens throughout the warehouse illuminated.
Recorded videos began playing.
Adrian bribing doctors.
Forging insurance documents.
Hiring fake witnesses.
Planning his wife's murder with the woman pretending to be pregnant.
Every lie.
Every payment.
Every betrayal.
Captured.
Time-stamped.
Irrefutable.
Detective Collins watched in silence before slowly turning toward the frozen hallway.
"So that's where he is."
The officers unlocked the security controls.
The heavy doors slid open.
Adrian stumbled out, shivering violently.
He immediately pointed toward the freezer.
"Arrest her! She tried to kill me!"
No one moved.
Instead, Detective Collins placed handcuffs around Adrian's wrists.
"You've been under investigation for six months."
Adrian's face turned white.
"No..."
"We were just waiting for your final mistake."
Across the room, the freezer door quietly opened.
Evelant stepped out.
Alive.
Calm.
Untouched.
She walked past Adrian without slowing down.
He whispered,
"You planned this..."
She looked him in the eyes.
"No."
May you like
"You planned it."
"I simply survived it."
