Chapter 2: Everything He Owned Was Never His

Outside, dozens of black luxury vehicles pulled into the driveway.

Corporate attorneys.

Federal financial investigators.

Representatives from the board.

The mansion transformed from a celebration into a crime scene.

Sophia—the woman who had proudly clung to Ethan only minutes earlier—slowly let go of his arm.

"Tell me this is a mistake."

Ethan couldn't answer.

One investigator stepped forward.

"Mr. Carter, we've received evidence of corporate fraud, embezzlement, and the misuse of company funds."

His face turned pale.

"You can't prove anything."

The CEO opened another folder.

"I already did."

She placed dozens of financial records on the marble table.

Hidden accounts.

Forged invoices.

Secret transfers.

Every dollar led back to him.

Sophia backed away.

"You told me you owned everything."

Ethan laughed bitterly.

"I thought I did."

The CEO watched them in silence.

She felt no satisfaction.

Only relief.

Justice had finally arrived.

As Ethan was escorted toward the front door in handcuffs, he turned around one last time.

"You planned this from the beginning."

She met his eyes without blinking.

May you like

"No."

"I simply stopped protecting you."
