Chapter 1: The Truth on the Screen

Chapter 1: The Truth on the Screen
The ballroom had fallen into complete silence.
Ethan knelt beside his unconscious father, Richard Sterling, his hands trembling as he checked for a pulse.
"Dad... stay with me."
Paramedics rushed in while security officers surrounded the grand staircase.
Across the room, Victoria stood frozen.
She kept her hands over her mouth, pretending to cry, but every second felt like an eternity.
Then Ethan slowly stood.
His eyes locked onto hers.
"Nobody leaves."
His voice was calm.
Too calm.
"Security," he ordered. "Pull every camera angle from the last ten minutes."
Victoria's heart nearly stopped.
"There... there must be some mistake," she stammered. "He lost his balance."
A guard spoke into his radio.
"We've got the footage."
Within moments, the ballroom's enormous LED screen flickered to life.
Every guest watched.
The recording showed Richard carefully climbing the stairs.
Victoria followed several steps behind him.
She looked around.
Made sure no one was watching.
Then, without hesitation...
She drove both hands into his back with all her strength.
Richard's body lurched forward before crashing down the marble staircase.
Gasps echoed through the ballroom.
Someone whispered,
"My God..."
Victoria stumbled backward.
"No... that's edited!"

But no one believed her anymore.
Not after everyone had seen the truth with their own eyes.
