Chapter 11: The Siege of Moonfall

Chapter 11: The Siege of Moonfall

The mountains shook beneath thousands of pounding paws.

The black-armored army surged down the slopes like a living tide.

Their battle cries echoed across the valley.

"Protect the Heir!" Garrick roared.

The Gray Watch instantly formed a defensive circle around Aria.

Their movements were flawless, as though they had rehearsed this moment for decades.

Fenrir stepped forward.

His colossal form towered over every warrior on the battlefield.

The First Alpha drew a deep breath.

Then he unleashed a howl.

The sound split the heavens.

Its silver shockwave rolled across the valley.

Hundreds of enemy wolves were thrown backward.

Some dropped their weapons.

Others collapsed to one knee.

Yet the soldiers wearing the Ember Crown's mark continued advancing.

Unafraid.

Unstoppable.

"The Crown shields them," Fenrir growled.

"Their loyalty has become a prison."

Kael unsheathed his claws.

"We hold the line."

Without waiting for orders, he charged.

A black-armored captain met him head-on.

Steel claws collided.

The impact cracked the stone beneath their feet.

Kael spun low, slashing across the captain's side.

Instead of blood...

Black smoke poured from the wound.

"What?"

The captain laughed.

"You fight ghosts."

His body dissolved into shadow before reforming behind Kael.

A blade flashed.

Kael barely twisted aside.

The sword sliced across his shoulder.

Blood splattered onto the broken stones.

Lydia screamed.

"Kael!"

Ignoring the pain, Kael drove both claws into the captain's chest.

Silver energy erupted from the strike.

The captain howled before exploding into black ash.

Kael stared at his glowing claws.

"They're changing..."

Fenrir noticed immediately.

"The Blood Moon is awakening your true Alpha power."

Nearby, Aria lifted the Moonblade.

The Heartstone floated above its hilt.

The two relics resonated.

Silver rings of light spread across the battlefield.

Every ally felt strength return.

Every enemy hesitated.

Garrick smiled.

"The Heir has united two relics."

The Guardian's eyes widened.

"Impossible."

"They should not resonate until the Trials are complete."

Aria looked down at the glowing sword.

"I didn't do anything."

"The relics chose you," Selene whispered.

A roar interrupted them.

Lucien lunged through the chaos, the Shadow Spear aimed directly at Aria.

Too fast.

Too close.

The Guardian intercepted him.

Silver spear met black spear.

The collision created a shockwave that shattered nearby pillars.

Lucien smiled grimly.

"You've grown weaker."

The Guardian's breathing had become ragged.

"I've grown old."

"But not helpless."

He twisted his spear.

A burst of silver light forced Lucien backward.

For a brief moment, the battlefield paused.

Then the masked king finally moved.

From atop his massive black wolf, he slowly drew a sword.

Its blade burned with crimson fire.

Fenrir's eyes narrowed.

"The King's Fang..."

The Guardian whispered in disbelief.

"That weapon was destroyed."

"So history claimed," the king replied.

He pointed the burning sword toward Fenrir.

"Come."

"I've waited generations for this duel."

Fenrir's lips curled into a snarl.

"You wear a stolen crown."

"You carry a stolen sword."

"But you have earned your death."

With one tremendous leap, Fenrir crossed half the battlefield.

The king's giant wolf lunged to meet him.

The collision echoed like thunder.

The earth split beneath them.

Shockwaves rippled through the valley.

Every wolf stumbled.

The duel of legends had begun.

Meanwhile, Aria's Heartstone pulsed violently once more.

A new vision consumed her.

She stood within a hidden chamber beneath House Vale.

Her father knelt before a stone altar.

Beside him stood the Guardian.

"You cannot keep protecting me forever," Adrian said.

The Guardian smiled faintly.

"I made that promise to your father."

"And I'll keep it."

Adrian placed a weathered scroll inside a silver chest.

"If Aria survives..."

"She must never follow my path."

The Guardian frowned.

"What if destiny leaves her no choice?"

Adrian closed the chest.

"Then give her this."

The vision ended.

Aria gasped.

"The scroll..."

"The chest..."

She looked toward the Guardian.

"There's something hidden beneath our estate."

The Guardian froze.

"You saw it?"

He had never told another soul.

"It's real?"

He nodded slowly.

"The Hall of Echoes."

"Your father left something for you."

Lucien overheard every word.

His eyes gleamed with excitement.

"So that's where he hid it."

"The final map."

The Guardian's expression hardened.

"You'll never reach it."

Lucien smiled.

"I don't have to."

He suddenly snapped his fingers.

A sharp whistle echoed through the valley.

Several black-armored wolves broke away from the main battle.

They weren't charging toward Aria.

They were fleeing.

Racing west.

Toward the ruins of House Vale.

Garrick's face turned pale.

"They're going after the Hall of Echoes!"

Aria instinctively took a step forward.

"We have to stop them."

Before anyone could move, the masked king unleashed a devastating strike.

His crimson blade collided with Fenrir's claws.

The explosion lit the valley brighter than daylight.

When the dust settled...

Fenrir was on one knee.

Blood—ancient, silver, and glowing—dripped onto the broken earth.

The First Alpha had been wounded.

And somewhere beneath the ruined House Vale, a forgotten secret waited for whoever reached it first.
