Ethan stood frozen in the doorway, his eyes still locked on the scene in front of him.
Ava on the floor.
Pills scattered like broken promises.
His mother standing above everything.
“Mom?” he whispered again, but this time his voice broke.
Margaret tried to step forward.
“Ethan, this is not what it looks like—”
But he raised his hand.
“Don’t.”
That single word shattered her confidence.
Lena crawled toward the desk, trembling.
“She drugged her… she’s been drugging her for months.”
Ethan turned sharply.
“What?”
Lena pointed at the bottle under the desk.
“Those weren’t vitamins.”
