Chapter 4 – Justice Without Revenge

Chapter 4 – Justice Without Revenge
Mariana slid a folder across the table.
Inside was a settlement agreement.
"I could leave you with nothing."
Andrew slowly nodded.
"I know."
"But I won't."
He looked up.
Confused.
"You'll receive enough to rebuild your life."
"But only if you sign these documents."
"What are they?"
"You'll admit every financial lie."
"You'll compensate every employee whose retirement fund was endangered."
"You'll publicly clear my name."
"You'll acknowledge that I never stole your mother's necklace."
Andrew stared at the final page.
The confession.
Everything he had spent years hiding.
"You planned this?"
"No."
Mariana answered softly.
"I planned to spend my life with you."
"You forced me to prepare for surviving without you."
After several minutes...
He signed.
Not because he wanted to.
Because he had no choice.
That same afternoon...
Andrew held a press conference.
With cameras recording every second...
He confessed everything.
The false accusations.
The abuse.
The lies.
Mariana never appeared.
She didn't need to.
The truth spoke louder than revenge ever could.
Margaret watched from a small apartment she now rented.
For the first time in years...
She cried.

Not because she lost her wealth.
Because she realized she had driven away the only person who had ever truly protected her family.
