Chapter 1 – The Empire Begins to Collapse

By the time the black SUV arrived at Escalante Global Headquarters, every senior executive was already waiting.

No one looked surprised to see Mariana.

They stood the moment she entered the boardroom.

"Good evening, Ms. Escalante."

Not Mrs. Andrew Lawson.

Not Andrew's wife.

Just Mariana Escalante.

Her father, Victor Escalante, sat quietly at the head of the table.

His silver hair reflected years of wisdom, but his eyes carried disappointment.

"I warned you," he said gently.

"You loved him more than he loved you."

Mariana nodded.

"I know."

She placed a single leather folder on the table.

Inside were years of hidden contracts.

Loan agreements.

Silent ownership transfers.

Emergency financing documents.

Every dollar Andrew believed belonged to him had originated from Escalante Capital.

Four years earlier, Andrew's construction company had been only weeks away from bankruptcy.

Banks had refused him.

Investors had walked away.

Suppliers demanded payment.

Then Mariana had stepped in.

Not as an heiress.

As a wife.

She begged her father to help without revealing her family's identity.

Victor agreed—but under one condition.

Everything would remain under Escalante ownership until Andrew proved himself worthy.

He never did.

Instead, he became arrogant.

Cruel.

Entitled.

Mariana looked at the legal team.

"Has the order been executed?"

The lead attorney smiled.

"Every corporate account has been frozen."

"Every property financed through Escalante Capital has entered immediate default."

"The board has voted unanimously to remove Andrew Lawson as acting CEO."

"His access cards have already been deactivated."

Silence settled over the room.

Mariana took one slow breath.

"No revenge."

Everyone looked confused.

"We're simply taking back what already belongs to us."

Across town...

Andrew was celebrating.

Brenda poured champagne into crystal glasses.

Margaret laughed louder than she had in years.

"She'll come crawling back," Margaret sneered.

"Women like Mariana always do."

Andrew leaned back in his chair.

"She has nothing."

"I gave her everything."

At that exact moment...

His phone buzzed.

Then another.

Then another.

His smile faded.

ACCOUNT ACCESS DENIED.

CORPORATE FUNDS FROZEN.

BOARD EMERGENCY SESSION.

CEO STATUS TERMINATED.

He frowned.

"What is this?"

Brenda laughed.

"Probably some banking error."

Then every light inside the mansion suddenly went dark.

The security system shut down.

The automatic gates unlocked.

May you like

Outside...

Tow trucks rolled through the front entrance.
