Chapter 3 — No More Silence

Chapter 3 — No More Silence
That afternoon, they went to the hospital.
Not because Sofia was afraid anymore—but because evidence mattered now.
A nurse looked at her bruises and immediately changed tone. Security was called. Forms were filled. Questions were asked carefully, respectfully.
Then the police arrived.
Two officers. Calm. Professional.
Sofia hesitated before speaking.
But Elena held her hand.
“You don’t have to protect anyone,” Elena said softly. “Not anymore.”
So Sofia talked.
Everything.
The hotel room. The locked door. The laughter. Carmen’s voice. Javier outside the door.
The officer writing notes stopped once, looked up, and asked quietly:
“Did anyone stop it?”
Sofia’s voice cracked, but she answered.
“No.”
That single word changed the air.
Outside the hospital, Alexander stood motionless for a long time, staring at nothing.
Then his phone rang again.
Unknown number.
He answered.
Carmen’s voice returned, less calm this time.
“You’re making a mistake escalating this.”
Alexander didn’t move.
“This isn’t escalation,” he said. “This is the beginning of accountability.”
A pause.
Then Carmen, colder now:
“You think this will survive public attention?”
Alexander finally smiled—but there was nothing warm in it.
May you like
“It already has.”
He hung up.
