The mansion behind me didn’t explode.
It didn’t burn.
It simply… emptied.
Like a shell finally realizing it had been hollow for years.
Outside, my father helped me into the car.

Then I finally whispered, “I’m sorry.”
He didn’t ask why.

“You’re alive,” he replied. “That’s enough.”
Three months later, my son was born in a private hospital overlooking the mountains.

On the night I held him for the first time, my father stood by the window.
“The empire will rebuild itself,” he said quietly. “Hers, not theirs.”
