CHAPTER 1: THE PAPER TRAIL
The morning air over the estate had changed.
What used to feel like untouchable wealth now felt… temporary.
The pregnant woman—Ms. Dixon—stood beneath the marble columns, holding the portfolio the attorney had delivered. The man beside her didn’t rush. He simply waited as she opened it.
Inside were signed documents. Property transfer records. Offshore account freezes. Corporate holdings. Everything carefully indexed.
“This estate,” the attorney said calmly, “was never legally in his name. It was held under a trust you inherited at twenty-five.”
A silence spread across the courtyard like a slow collapse.
Above them, on the balcony, the man who had ordered her out the night before grabbed the railing.
“That’s impossible,” he snapped. “I built this place.”
Ms. Dixon looked up at him—not angry, not rushed. Just certain.
“You maintained it,” she said. “On borrowed authority.”

Her hand rested lightly on her stomach as she turned a page.
“And now that authority has been revoked.”
