Daniel and Emily rented a small apartment across town.
It wasn't luxurious.
The kitchen was tiny.
The furniture didn't match.
The walls needed fresh paint.
But every morning, Daniel made breakfast before work.
Every evening, he rubbed Emily's swollen feet while they laughed over simple dinners.
For the first time in months...
Emily smiled without forcing it.
Weeks later, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Daniel cried the moment he held his daughter.
"I promise," he whispered.
"You will never grow up believing love has to be earned."
Meanwhile, Patricia repeatedly called.
No answer.
She sent letters.
No reply.
Eventually, she showed up carrying flowers.
When Daniel opened the door, she immediately burst into tears.
"I was wrong."
Daniel remained quiet.
Patricia looked at Emily.
"I'm sorry for every cruel word."
Emily saw genuine regret in her eyes.
