Chapter 6: Easter One Year Later

The following Easter looked very different.

Arthur's little house was filled with laughter instead of silence.

Neighbors brought homemade desserts.

Children hunted colorful eggs across the yard.

Lily volunteered at a local shelter that helped survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives.

She often told new arrivals,

"The hardest part is making the first phone call."

Arthur stood nearby, quietly watching.

His satellite phone remained locked away in the attic.

He hoped it would stay there forever.

As the afternoon sun settled across the backyard, Lily hugged her father.

"Thank you for coming."

Arthur smiled.

"I'll always come."

Sometimes courage isn't found in secret missions or hidden identities.

Sometimes it begins with a father answering the phone.

And sometimes justice doesn't arrive because someone is powerful.

It arrives because someone finally refuses to stay silent.
