The prosecution presented the surveillance footage first.
Then the financial records.
Then testimony from accountants, attorneys, and former employees.
Finally, Emily took the stand.
She spoke quietly.
She never cried.
She simply described the humiliation of being arrested in front of her children.
She explained how her sons had nightmares afterward and became terrified whenever they saw police officers.
The courtroom was silent.
Even several jurors wiped away tears.
Victoria was convicted on multiple felony charges, including fraud, evidence tampering, filing false reports, and embezzlement.
She was sentenced to several years in state prison and ordered to repay millions of dollars.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded Daniel.
"Do you regret believing your wife?"
He answered honestly.
"I regret not believing the woman who had given this family nothing but honesty."
That afternoon, Daniel visited Emily's modest apartment.
He handed her a folder.
"I owe you more than an apology."
Inside was the deed to a beautiful three-bedroom house.
Along with a trust fund covering both boys' education through college.
Emily stared at him in disbelief.
"I can't accept this."
"Yes," Daniel said gently.
