Chapter 2: Lies Fall Apart

The officers gathered inside the mansion's security office.

Victoria stood stiffly beside the doorway, forcing a nervous smile.

"There has to be some mistake."

Nobody answered.

The video began playing.

Every movement was crystal clear.

Victoria entering the safe.

Victoria carrying the jewelry.

Victoria placing everything into the maid's bag.

Victoria closing the zipper.

Victoria walking away as if nothing had happened.

When the recording ended, the room remained silent.

The lead detective slowly turned toward Victoria.

"Mrs. Crawford..."

"Would you like to explain this?"

She laughed nervously.

"It looks bad, but Daniel, I can explain—"

"No," Daniel interrupted.

"You can explain it to the police."

The detective nodded toward another officer.

"Remove the maid's handcuffs."

The metal cuffs clicked open.

Emily, the maid, rubbed her swollen wrists, tears pouring down her face.

Her two little boys ran into her arms.

She collapsed onto her knees, holding them so tightly they could barely breathe.

Daniel felt a wave of shame.

For years, Emily had served his family with complete loyalty.

And tonight, she had nearly lost everything because of the woman he trusted most.

The detective stepped toward Victoria.

"Mrs. Crawford, you're under arrest for filing a false police report, evidence tampering, and attempting to frame an innocent person."

Victoria's face turned pale.

"You can't arrest me!"

May you like

The detective calmly reached for his handcuffs.

"Oh, yes we can."
