One year later, the family gathered in the living room.
The old sofa was gone.
In its place stood a simple new couch with no hidden compartments.
Their daughter laughed as she jumped into her father's arms.

The father looked at his wife.
"We almost lost everything."
She squeezed his hand.

Daniel visited for dinner that evening.
He knocked on the front door.

He smiled back.
