Chapter 4: A Different Kind of Strength

Chapter 4: A Different Kind of Strength
Six months later, spring returned to New York.
Anna no longer lived above the laundromat.
But she didn't move back into Luca's penthouse either.
Instead, they rented a brownstone in Brooklyn together.
Smaller.
Quieter.
Warmer.
There were no marble staircases.
No private elevators.
No ballroom-sized living room.
Only sunlight, bookshelves, fresh flowers, and laughter.
Luca reduced his business empire piece by piece.
He sold companies tied to violence.
He invested in legitimate businesses.
Some people called it weakness.
He called it freedom.
Anna returned to the art gallery.
She also began volunteering once a week at the hospital where strangers had cared for her during the darkest days of her life.
One afternoon, a frightened young woman asked,
"Does it ever stop being scary?"
Anna smiled gently.
"No."
The woman looked disappointed.
"But one day," Anna continued, "you realize courage isn't the absence of fear."
"It's choosing love anyway."
Across the lobby, Luca waited with two cups of coffee.
He smiled the moment he saw her.

Not because he owned the world.
Because he finally understood what mattered inside it.
