Chapter 3: The Secret Letter

The engagement banquet ended early.

Guests quietly left the ballroom, whispering among themselves.

Vivian was furious.

The moment they entered the mansion, she exploded.

"Are you seriously letting a waitress humiliate me in front of everyone?"

Julian remained silent.

She crossed her arms.

"You need to fire her immediately."

Before he could answer, Sophie's small voice echoed from the staircase.

"No."

She stood there holding an envelope.

"I found this in Mommy's room."

Everyone froze.

Julian slowly took the envelope from her hands.

His heart stopped.

The handwriting belonged to his late wife, Eleanor.

His fingers trembled as he opened it.

Inside was a letter.

It read:

Julian, if you're reading this someday, it means Sophie still misses me.

Please don't replace love with appearances.

The person who truly deserves a place in Sophie's life will not be the most beautiful woman in the room.

It will be the one who chooses her every single day.

If someone ever loves our daughter without expecting anything in return… don't let that person walk away.

Julian could barely breathe.

He looked up.

Anna stood quietly near the doorway.

Her eyes widened.

She never knew this letter existed.

Neither did Vivian.

But everyone suddenly understood.

The answer had been there all along.

Love was never about status.

It was about presence.

Vivian's expression hardened.

Without another word, she grabbed her purse and stormed out of the mansion forever.

Julian didn't stop her.

Because for the first time…

He knew exactly what kind of family he wanted to build.
